apexi avc-r solenoid hose routing confusion......

Ok.... so i finally have all the wiring and hose hookups done ( giant pain in my ass if you read my other thread)

Anyway, the hose routing for the solenoid has me scratching my head..... it was easy enough to do, just follow the diagram, but as I can never leave well enough alone, I have to ask myself how the heck this routing works?

Check pg 48 of the link here.... http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdf/product...tation/200.pdf ....

it seems to me that there is a rather uninterrupted flow of air to the side port of the gate. Under normal circumstances, I leave the top port open and hook a MBC to the side port; and boost control works fine....

with the AVC-r, the line going to the side port is t'd into and then allowed to travel uninterrupted to the side port. And the line coming from the three way T is connected to the top port and routed through the solenoid.....

would it be safe to say that in this configuration, the solenoid's purpose is to hold the wastegate closed through pressure to the top port of the gate? If this is the case..... then how does the solenoid duty cycle affect boost? ( What I mean by this is what is the relation of open to closed in the process of regulating boost?)
