Atlanta/SE Dyno Day Redux

I figure with the fresh batch of standalone installations that need to be tuned, plus steady progress by those of us with existing installs, it may be time to get everyone to the dyno again.

What do you guys think? What about Saturday August 14, 21, or 28? Facility preference?

m2cupcar 07-31-2007 01:06 PM

do you have tuesdays of or something? :gay:
End of august might be better for me- to get some kind of tune with the new IC by then... and maybe calm my oil temps.

Atlanta93LE 07-31-2007 01:56 PM

End of August would be good for me too...might give me time to shroud the radiator, get a TPS in there, and try out EBC.

cjernigan 07-31-2007 09:20 PM

I'd come on down but i don't get back to TN until Aug. 22nd, which doesn't leave me near enough time to get the car in the shape i want it for a dyno run. Might have to do my own gig this winter sometime.

Ben 07-31-2007 10:13 PM

We could even go to something like Sat, September 8 which would give you a couple weeks, and everyone else 5 weeks. If there is interest in proceeding, I will call around and lock down a deal at a facility for us.

I think we have some cars with a lot of potential here, and a lot of smart people wrenching on them. So even though we have fewer cars, we should be able to give the NE guys a good run.

m2cupcar 07-31-2007 10:18 PM

can't do 2nd or 3rd wkend in sept... but you prolly won't suit everybody. Is this tuning or just power pulls? or whatever?

cjernigan 07-31-2007 10:39 PM

I can probably do sept 8 though i have to check my rifle schedule. I'll definitely need some tuning though, that's for sure. Maybe DIY will come out with a balls on accurate spark timing table for me to start with. BOA is a technical term.
Don't change dates just for me though, i also have a T3 manifold sitting in my room awaiting a turbo and downpipe so I can get my boost fever on. Which means i need to start looking for a T3 to replace my SR20 T25 and the tubing i need to adjust my IC piping and build a downpipe. Like i said, maybe in the spring or something if need be.

Anyone know anyting about Battleground? Supposedly $35 for 3 pulls and Scott Seigel is working there now. I never been there, or even heard of it, and couldnt' google it.

Ben 08-07-2007 06:54 PM

OK F- Google. Yahoo FTW
http://www.batlground.com/index.php?content=dyno

Dynojet, so power pulls only, no load tuning. It's in Smyrna, which sucks for me, but I think is fine for everyone else. Even Chad if he's coming down 75.
If we get enough participation, $40 for 3 runs. There is also a cash discount.

Atlanta93LE 08-07-2007 07:08 PM

Shit yeah, I'm in. Right in my town too!

Ben 08-10-2007 04:32 PM

Battleground says 10 cars or more at $45/ea on Saturday Sept 22. Their shop is not air conditioned. Last Saturday they did 3 pulls for $40, and had about 30 cars show up. They said they won't do that again for 4 months.

BPM says $550 for 4 1/2 hours. Unlimited pulls/cars, whatever you can do in 4 1/2 hours. Their dyno room is literally cold as balls. They will take us on Sept 15.

Thoughts?

Atlanta93LE 08-10-2007 04:42 PM

If we got 10+ cars, Battleground sounds great. But if it was only like 5 or 6 cars, then BPM would probably be a good call.

Loki047 08-10-2007 04:57 PM

Fuck for that price ill drive down to atlanta if someone puts me up... ayyyyyeyeeeeee?

Ben 08-10-2007 05:15 PM

yeah spend a hundred fifty on gas to save $15 on a dyno pull...

I left messages with 2 other shops--1 dynojet, 1 mustang--so maybe we'll get some more options.

If we can get enough people, I like BPM for the fact that their shop is 60-something degrees, instead of 100.

Loki047 08-10-2007 05:27 PM

dude dyno pulls around here are close to the 200 dollar range, if you can get dyno time.

Ben 08-10-2007 06:19 PM

well allright then.

it's not a matter of if we can get time, but if we can all agree on a time. as getting a dyno day is going to require 10 people to make it worthwhile as far as discount pricing goes. most shops here charge no more than $65 for 3 pulls if you set a standard appointment.

erkinatl 08-11-2007 10:22 AM

I'd come down from Winder to watch may be not run this time

Ben 08-15-2007 12:34 PM

Battleground has recanted their offer for the 25th. They are saying October 7th is the only day they have available.

Ben 08-15-2007 12:37 PM

Another option is ABC Dyno. They have a Mustang, and can host on the 25th. But want to at least ball park attendance before talking pricing.

m2cupcar 08-15-2007 12:52 PM

I've got two big projects right now that are going to keep me off the dyno until fall - so count me out on anything soon.
