Default Braille B2015 or B2317?

Hi guys,

My Optima Red top has finally bit it so I'm in the market for a new battery. I'm debating between the B2015 and the B2317 (new model). The B2317 looks like a better performer but I'm not sure what's the difference between "all season" and "racing". Anyone have experience with the newer model?

Thanks,

t.t.

P.S.
My Miata isn't my daily driver and I have a semi decent system in it.

A quick look at the specs shows the 23xx to have about 10% more capacity.
I'm the type of guy who likes it when my car starts when it's cold out, so I'd get the bigger battery. But that's just me. If your car were track only and kept on a tender, then the smaller battery would be ok.

Ya i was thinking about that battery cause the weight but do you really want to be stuck cause you bought a light battery and now your car wont start...i have the OEM one and its been going strong for 3 years or more its shooting out 14volts

Get the new one. Or a Westco battery.

i say just get another optima, i dunno how yours went to ****. They usually last long long time... maybe too much cranking?

but since your car is not a daily, a smaller lightweight battery could work. I daily mine, and im sure since you have a turbo, that little amount of weight wont be so significant to cause a serious change in control with your car.

I had an odessy P680 in my AE86 before i sold it, it was extremely light weight, and it still gave the car the power need, and then some. The car was semi-daily driven and it performed well. Dunno about the braile's.

ok after some more research, it would seem that Braille batteries are made by Deka. They also seem to make the same battery for Westco and Autozone Dura Last Gold (8AMU1R). There's evidence that the Deka Power Sport ETX14 is the same as the Braille B14115. From what I've read the specs for the Power Sport are under valued so it's hard to make a correlation to the other Braille batteries without someone measuring them.

here are some links

Now that I think about it I might go with the Autozone battery. It's only 7 lbs more than the B2317, has a better warranty, and $70 less.
