Default Is this bracket necessary on my NB/MSM?

Sorry for the lack of a picture ... on my MSM (I don't know if other NBs apply) there is a small L-shaped bracket connecting the front of the intake manifold to the front of the fuel rail. Is that bracket necessary or may I safely leave it off?

There is a ground attached to it.

I removed that bracket when I installed my new injectors on my MSM and I have had no problems.

Install it unless you really really really need the 8 grams weight savings.

Perhaps to prevent static build up on the fuel rail by the passing fuel?

Maybe it was there for some reason initially, but then become useless after a design change and the engineers were too lazy to remove it.
