Baby on way! Selling Turbo Car!

Well, I HAVE A BABY on the way!

I'm excited. Not much longer!

I posted up the Turbo car in our classifieds, and her Altima on CL to get her a SUV.
At the age of 35, I'm finally making my mom happy with her first grandchild. Painting the nursery, putting the bed together.
Trying to find a RUBBER Miata somewhere...... lol

pdexta 06-28-2013 03:19 PM

Congrats! How far along is she?

18psi 06-28-2013 03:21 PM

We have a baby on the way too, you don't see me selling the miata. You see me purchasing a corvette in addition to the miata;)

Congrats though :)

Leafy 06-28-2013 03:42 PM

Man, kids really do ruin lives.

Why are you getting the wife an suv? Her altima is a 4 door, perfectly capable of hauling 2 kids. But if you really think she needs to be able to haul an entire neighborhood full of kids, why not a mini van, they're much more practical, economical, and comfortable than an SUV.

18psi 06-28-2013 03:48 PM

Yes Leafy, you ruined your parents lives.

Way to go

^ That. My friend has a kid and hates her SUV, plus they are more prone to rollovers than any other vehicle. But if you HAVE to get an SUV...

I'm sure they would have been much better off without me.

18psi 06-28-2013 03:57 PM

Good news, there's still time to fix that.

Kill yourself:giggle:

Der_Idiot 06-28-2013 04:19 PM

93rd trimester abortion?

Agreed. Seems my parents did just fine with four door cars. When I was kid my dad's DD for a number of years was an '85 GT Mustang.

But then again I'll probably buy a crew cab F150 as a DD next year to justify 10-12 times towing a year.

Ignore the above statement. Having kids is the best thing you'll ever experience in your entire life. Nothing compares to it, even remotely.

Congrats.

Leafy 06-28-2013 04:28 PM

Yeah when I was a kid my dad always had a single cab truck and my mom would have an assortment of smallish (compacts by todays standards) like cutlass or grand am or cavalier, and now a cobalt. Was never a problem. We did have exploder for a short time instead of a truck. That sucked.

y8s 06-28-2013 05:32 PM

who sells their miata when they have a kid? seriously, who does that?

please don't get an SUV.

dieselmiata 06-28-2013 05:39 PM

After my 3rd kid was born, I bought a second Miata. Why get rid of a car that you're not making payments on? I've never understood having children as an excuse for selling a Miata.

But whatever you decide to do, congratulations on the kiddo.

thenuge26 06-28-2013 05:48 PM

I'm with the minivan > SUV crowd. My mom has driven different minivans for the last 20 years or so. It is always annoying when we rent a car on vacation and get a explorer-sized SUV that fits HALF of the shit the minivan did.

THANKS everyone!
Well I'm selling more than just the Miata. I'm selling the 73 Stingray, my 750, and mabe even the 63 Conv. Falcon.

All the bills from finishing her Bach. are coming in, and I'm wanting to pay some off. I would also like to get rid of the Altima payment. And just pay cash for a Nice Tahoe etc.

If I do it this way I can drop $1000 a month in bills before the baby gets here. :)

After I finish school, I'll treat myself to something or several somethings. lol

If that's a mini van, then I wish I was a soccer mom.

Toddcod 06-28-2013 06:16 PM

I told my wife if the Baby has her moms bust, her hips, my mothers size and my FACE; SHE will be set for Miss America. LOLOL.

RussellT94 06-28-2013 11:07 PM

Congratulations. I have a 5 month old, and it's amazing how your priorities change.

Don't listen to the idiots, they will never have to worry about carrying around a kid and strollers as it's unlikely they will ever get the chance to attempt procreation.

Oh look, the smug self-absorbed parent! You are so awesome for continuing the over-population and destruction of the earth.

Keep patting yourself on the back for accomplishing what humans (and animals) have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years.

You're exceptional.

Sorry OP

Ahem. 3 kids, 11, 7, and 6, so 2 strollers for years. 1 minivan, 1 sedan, 2 Miatas. Yes, priorities change. Doesn't mean you have to give up your life.

But hey, why listen to us idiots who realized you don't have to sacrifice everything just because you have kids.

My apologies for congratulating the OP on a life changing event. Guess I should have told him to eat shit and die, or choke on a bag of dicks, or whatever the traditional Miata Turbo greeting is.

You are still here. If your concern is truly for the planet, have you considered killing yourself and converting your body into nourishment for plants and animals?

Sorry OP

It is exceptional to have your life change in an instance and to immediately care for the well being of another human more than you care for yourself. It's a very rewarding and humbling experience. I'm sorry for whatever's happened in your life, and hope you will one day experience the joy that the birth of my child brought me.

My idiots comment was directed to the "kids ruin your life" crowd. I still have the Miata, wife and I each have daily drivers. I agree you don't have to give up your life, but it isn't ruined either.

z31maniac 06-28-2013 11:39 PM

Ahh, kill myself because my wife and I have decided we don't want children?

I'm glad you're mindset is manifesting itself further. ;)

You have the power to reduce the over population problem by 1.

FRT_Fun 06-29-2013 12:08 AM

Wow the mood sure did change in here.

triple88a 06-29-2013 12:16 AM

Odds are you'll need money.. selling a well working miata to get something with unknown history isnt the best idea.

You guys are funny!!!!!

FYI the forester back seat wont fit rear facing child seats well.

make sure you take that into consideration if you don't get a giant mother of a tahoe (I assume they fit in that).

I dunno, kids are cool. our son is a badass.

he cares that daddy likes microbrews.
