bad ass, affordable gauges

http://www.prosportgauges.com/premium.php

Its pretty cool how the gauge beeps and changes color with warnings. They're affordable too.

neogenesis2004 09-15-2007 12:11 PM

Someone should attack a group buy. One of my old roommates has the white/amber gauges and they look great. I priced out all the gauges I want from them a couple weeks ago, but I don't wanna spend that much. From what I hear they give great discounts on group buys, and their customer service is supposed to be ridiculously good.

cjernigan 09-15-2007 12:35 PM

I've seen them before. I need oil temp and EGT. I want to replace my stock CLT gauge in the pod somehow but I have no leads on how to do that.

Ben 09-15-2007 01:07 PM

I sent them an email asking for group buy terms and/or dealer agreement.

They are a little flashy for my taste, but I like how the EGT gauge is a usable range. I can peg my autometer. And their standard gauges are pretty reasonably priced for electronic gauges.

firedog25 09-15-2007 01:08 PM

I always find good deals on shit at NASIOC.com, vendors there are pretty generous. I just picked up a piece of kit for $50 less than anyone else on a normally $300 item, free shipping.

I got Omori gauges for my WRX, those are really nice but not the cheapest (also not the most expensive either) and have user tuneable peak warnings. I've had my experience with cheap gauges, Megan Racing to be exact. My EGT just took a digger because there's no way I'm sitting at 750* F, the other one's seem to be working just fine at the moment but I'm still going to change them all out before they all take a shit on me. I'm looking at going with the Omori boost and EGT since I have a wideband coming.

neogenesis2004 09-15-2007 01:10 PM

I plan to wire mine up to a pot to work as a dimmer.

hustler 09-15-2007 01:34 PM

Lets do a group buy. I'd do premium boost, egt, and oil temp.

y8s 09-15-2007 01:41 PM

interesting, and look nice... definitely hitting a price point

but come on, "we dont need no stinkin controller" is just crying "we copied defi" isn't it?

i like the white amber. the combo defi didn't have :)

Where did you purchase the Omori gauges from?

The Omori's are really nice, the only thing you need to splice and dice is the power, ground, and dimmer. Everything else are nice connectors and stuff. I believe they have a full spectrum color changing gauge line too controlled by an RGB dial type switch so you could make flaming pink if you wanted. :) They're a pretty complete set up. They even include a dinky little screwdriver to adjust your warning levels. The sandwich adapter I bought separate and ended up not even using.

^thanks for the link.

reddroptop 09-15-2007 02:32 PM

I think I am going to go with one SPA Design gauge with Boost and Oil Temp. They have Boost and EGT as well, but It is more expensive and I am not too sure about needing it. They are super accurate and can be found for around 200 USD with senders.

LunaticDriver 09-16-2007 02:53 AM

i hear the pro-sports are hit and miss... most of the EGT's fail after 6 months or so from what the subbie crowd says. But others find that they last forever. My friend got boost/egt/oil temp and for some reason his oil temp gauge is 100% of the time pegged hot even on cold starts. Pro sport keeps sending him new sending units and so far he is on his 3rd.

Dhaark 09-16-2007 12:34 PM

I talked to Pro-Sport.... and if I remember correctly, the discount on a group buy is 13% off the regular price.... I talked to neo about it in mid-july. :)

StankCheeze 09-16-2007 01:00 PM

Wish they had a 30-0-20 boost gauge :(

boostinsteve 09-16-2007 02:54 PM

I purchased the electric boost gage, voltmeter, and have the oil pressure gage. So far, they have been awesome and have been accurate as hell. They are about 3 months old now.

neogenesis2004 09-16-2007 02:58 PM

You never followed through though. I need mad gauges yo!

EGT
Oil pressure
Oil temp
52mm digi tach
Probably a water temp gauge

cjernigan 09-16-2007 02:59 PM

Sounds like you're building a custom gauge panel?

neogenesis2004 09-16-2007 03:15 PM

It hadn't really crossed my mind, but if I could find a 52mm speedo too then maybe I could.

fmowry 09-17-2007 07:41 AM

If the digital gauges are like the mechanical boost gauge I had installed, they're impossible to read with the top down if mounted in the center radio panel (triple gauge pod). They reflect very badly in that position.

I sold it to Dow.tom cheap so if he puts it in an a-pillar mount, he can comment on the visibility. It should be better there.

I am working out terms with ProSport Gauges. I am about to fax them my dealer app and copy of business license.

They are not discussing pricing until after I am approved. However, the minimum discount will be 10% off... and possibly better, I don't know yet.

So if you are interested in some gauges and you're READY to buy, please post out what items you want. Again, assume your price will be retail minus 10%. I am going to push to get us a better discount. So hope that I do, but don't expect it.

That kinda ruins it for me because that's where my guages are going to go. Maybe i need to look into westach dual gauges instead.

neogenesis2004 09-17-2007 02:36 PM

I already posted what I want, also a mechanical boost gauge. The defi boost gauge I have is broken.

Ben 09-17-2007 02:56 PM

I need you to tell me which specific series, size, and color you want
That's the only way I can order the right stuff :)

Newbsauce 09-17-2007 03:11 PM

"Save your Turbo-Set the warning function to alert you when you over boost!!"

Hm. Try "Save yo engine bitch!"

neogenesis2004 09-17-2007 03:14 PM

Thank goodness for overboost protection :) Sent you a PM ben

My very old Cartech (BEGI) Westach looks fine in the prosports place. The prosport has a smoked lense which amplifies the reflections in the center console. If I wore a white T-shirt, that's all I would see in the gauge. The clear Cartech gauge doesn't do this.

If they are readable down by the radio I'll be interested. This picture makes me a little concerned about the smoked lense. I'd like to see them in someone's car with the top down...

hustler 09-18-2007 01:24 PM

fuck.

I want to see more shots. If I can't see with the top down, then I'm not going to buy them.

TonyC 09-18-2007 06:08 PM

2 Q's:
1. are the pro-sport gauges made in china? if so, i'm not paying those prices. i'd rather fork out another 20% and go Japanese

2. are the omori gauges now made in SE Asia? Back in the late 90s, they were da SHIT. then they move production sites off JP.

jwarriner 09-18-2007 06:17 PM

Why don't people buy Autometer gauges from Summit Racing?

Looks like Omori's are made in Taiwan now or some shit. Offices still in Japan and what not. Like I said, I got a three gauge set from J-Spec Tuning and I'm pretty happy with them. I still have to install the oil temp hardware, but everything else works picture perfect.

Dow.tom 09-18-2007 07:36 PM

hey frank, i put mine in the far left vent.... can't see during top down day time too well... I can read it but i doesn't show light. (ie the red) At night it's bright as fuck, kinda makes me not want to look at it

1.yes the pro sport gauges are made in china. They are a knock off from the Defi gauges.

2.Don't know if they are now made in SE Asia, but I do know that they are top quality and they make the gauges for Greddy and HKS and some OEM car manufacturers.

so I think although I was excited and shit at first, now I'm not into it and have to pick up something else.

hustler 09-18-2007 09:35 PM

I'm thinking I'll get the greddy egt and oil temp. Does anyone else make realistically priced gauges with alarms?

cjernigan 09-18-2007 09:39 PM

Pretty sure WOT might be able to get you a discount on Greddy gauges.

Ben 09-18-2007 09:52 PM

hmm
I'll see if ProSport will send me a sample gauge.

Croc 09-22-2007 05:39 PM

i had smoked Prosport boost and EGT on an A-pillaer.

no reliability issues but absolutely unreadable during sunny day and top down.

Ben 09-22-2007 06:52 PM

thank you Croc. that's good to know.

I am supposed to get with one of the gentlemen from ProSport about a sample gauge. I need to arrange it next week. I will share my observations.

Prosport Gauges 01-31-2008 06:40 AM

Bump

Found this thread and thought I would jump in to see if everyone got what they needed with the GB discount..

fmowry 01-31-2008 10:26 AM

I'll bet a little bit of non-reflective window tint would go a long way in making these visible top down.
