Is it a bad clutch or not???

So at my last Auto X my 92 Non-turbo Miata's clutch did just fine for the first two runs. Each run was about 90 Seconds and there was atleast 10 mins of cool down time between runs. On my third run my clutch was slipping so bad that anytime I gave it gas it just slipped, so I did my whole run at about 15 mph(no fun). After sitting for about three hours I drove the car home and the clutch was catching fine again. The car has 92K miles on it and I assume it is still the OEM Clutch. This was the first time at AutoXing with this car.

Question: Is the clutch bad, or was the clutch just getting too hot and this is normal for an OEM clutch? If I put in another OEM clutch will I have the same problem? So I am going to put a new clutch in. I already have an OEM clutch kit that I purchased for a previous Miata I owned and plan to put that in. I just don't want to put that in and still have the same problem. I don't plan to go turbo w/ this Miata.

My other Miata is also NA and it has a brand new OEM clutch in it and it catches great, and I like the feel of the pedal, but I haven't autoXed it yet either.

Is it worth installing this OEM clutch or will I just be disappointed?

its not a typical oem clutch thing...i abused mine for 5 years autoxing non-turbo and never had that problem. Sounds like it doesn't want to grab when it's hot, guess it's just too worn down.

So is it worth throwing in the OEM clutch and should I try it myself?
