Begi chinacharger 2871
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has the chinacharger 2871 for sale on begi's site? Just wondering what the spool was, and also what the wastegate arm is. Any info about that thing would be appreciated, there's not much info on the site..

It looks quite similar to my GT28 godspeed turbo. Spool is fine. 1000cc injectors are too big for the power you'd be making.

Will do. Will 750's suffice? I'm planning on making an e85 map in the nearish future, when I have the funds.

I am actually thinking about running this turbo with my current setup and DW 600's, or maybe even RX7 550's. I can't wait to see these dyno results. If I ran this the way my car is now with the 10psi wastegate, I'd hope for 250whp minimum.

I have it, I got EVO8 600cc injectors. But the car is still with BEGi waiting for tuning and dyno. Check back in the next week or so for dyno results.

Is begi using a dynodynamics roller now?
|
Still at BEGi. Stephanie could not update the firmware on the Adaptronics. She had to ship it to Travis for repair.
|
Fanciful. Still out then I take it? I'm itching for a bigger turbo but I don't want to sacrifice so much to spooling that it's no fun anymore, heh.
|
Der, if you jump to a 2871R, a VVT head will go a long way towards helping the 3000-4000rpm torque. Torque under ~3800rpm is where the 25R turbos edge the 28/30Rs out, but only by a little. A 2860RS will give you slightly better spool, but you also lose a lot of power potential, 9-10lb/hr worth IIRC.
|
I already have an NB head, I don't think I can swap up to a 2001 head. It was already a small fortune to score this. Heh.
|
Should be able to sell the 99 head and upgrade for the cost of a head gasket. VVT is worth 500-600rpm of spool, and you already have the hard part done (ECU control via Hydra).
|
How exactly do they work, anyway? And any real gains besides the spool bump?
Edit- And I wonder, can the 99+ front-side CAS be retrofitted to the NA harness? I'm just tired of the constant leaking back there.. |
Any update on that dyno? I've got my turbo ordered but I figured I'd inquire.
Been doing some research and apparently the bigger A/R of .86 from .64 on my 2560 is going to adjust my spool, just wondering how much. I'm looking forward to the power for sure (3.909 Torsen II going in tonight), just hope its not -too- laggy :) |
The .86 housing will get you nothing on the 2560R, the compressor doesn't have the flow to move enough air to take advantage of it.
Why the hell are you still using a CAS with a Hydra? Switch over to NB sensors. |
^
1. I asked -can- it be made to work with the existing wiring or if I have to mod it. Currently I have an NA valve cover because the NB one was bad on arrival. 2. As far as the .86 vs .64, I have a lot to learn about turbos to be honest, I don't know all the math behind them other then bigger = better, but laggier (unless the housing is smaller, right?). Can the 2871 accommodate the .64 housing size? |

Ah, neat. Good to know :)

We are still waiting on a loaner from Travis. He had to ship my Adaptronic to Australia for repair. |
