Saturday night driving home, it was a little chilly for us Canadians.....

Braineack 12-14-2009 11:19 AM

i would literally die.

thagr81 us 12-14-2009 11:21 AM

Holy Christ that is cold...

jayc72 12-14-2009 11:28 AM

It went below -50C a couple of days ago. Aside from some place in Siberia we were the coldest place on earth. Bit of a dubious claim to fame.

Sentic 12-14-2009 11:44 AM

Ouch, that is cold! We've had it fairly mild so far, just a couple of degrees (celsius) minus.
The layot of the gauge is very scangaug'ish, but it doesnt look lika a scangauge2, what is that?

m2cupcar 12-14-2009 11:46 AM

now selling Miata block heaters ;)

Rafa 12-14-2009 11:50 AM

It's cold here too this time of the year: 29 degrees Celsius right now

It will go down to 22 at night :giggle:

Landrew 12-14-2009 12:01 PM

That hurts...... (down to 22 at night)

Its a MaxiTrip, it was under $80CDN on sale at Princess Auto. They ship them anywhere I believe.

You have no idea, I would literally kill myself in that sort of weather. I've been in Florida for way, way to long to ever live in a place that actually snowed or got below 70 in the winter for that matter.

240_to_miata 12-14-2009 12:31 PM

how the hell does that LCD display even work at that temperature?? My digital dash in my 240sx would crap out anything below 25*F

It's called a heater. Cars in Canada come with them.

I've got one in a box in the garage somewhere. My Miata spends winters in heated garage, don't think I've ever used my block heater. :)

2k6750 12-14-2009 01:02 PM

Whew that's pretty cold! I'm sitting here in shorts and Tshirt. South FL FTW!

Joe Perez 12-14-2009 01:13 PM

Huh... I left south Florida on Saturday and am in San Diego now. We were bitching about the fact that it got down to 50°F (10°C) last night. This was a big deal.

I can't even imagine what oil looks like at -37°C.

Remember that post you made about maple syrup a while ago? I'd imagine it looks something like that :giggle:.

Landrew 12-14-2009 01:41 PM

Synthetic 0W weight oils can handle it pretty well.

Plus the block heater made my water temp say +25 on startup so oil must be within 25c of that.

Its the dino oil people who if they even get started have no oil to the top of the motor for over a minute - bye bye camshafts!

wayne_curr 12-14-2009 02:59 PM

The transmission in the M3 i've been driving howls like a dying cat in sub 30*F temps. I bet it'd be seized solid in those temps.
