Best way to repair thread on O2 sensor?
The first two threads on my wide band are slightly mangled, but they look repairable. I did a quick internet search and wasn't able to find a sinlge 18x1.5mm die anywhere. Would an auto parts store have this or is there another way to repair the threads?

You should be able to use a file to clean up the threads. Old skool.

get a bung
cut it into a die by notching the insides. make sure they're sharp. then add a nice chamfer on the "start" side. hopefully it's enough. |
I've used a dremel and a thin cut off wheel for this...
Also you can use a hacksaw very carefully.... Tried the File trick, but it was too slow for my liking |
I don't own a dremel unfortunately, though I often wish I did. I ended up buying this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Cheap and figured it might be handy at some point again. |
