Angry Camshaft damaged.

I finally got around to having a look at my Eunos Roadster to find out why it had just cut out way back in January and I've not been able to get it running since.
I suspected a timing problem as I had spark & fuel and it would turn over but not run. Thanks to my cut-away cam-cover I could see that the cam wheels were not aligned correctly, so I decided to take off the cam cover and have a look in there.

I did not expect to see this...

So it seems that the intake cam is now junk, along with the retainer for #2 cylinder, I'll remove the cam tomorrow and see what the damage is like underneath the cam.
Does the B6 engine have shims under the camshaft? or is it just the head (in which case I'm thinking the head may be junk too).

Unsure how it happened, the oil pump died and was replaced in January, I then covered around 300 miles in the car before it just cut out one day.
So it possibly helped along by the previous oil starvation, or as someone has suggested a stone may have gotten in the cut-away cam cover and screwed things up.

It's just the head, there's no separate bearing. You're going to need to pull the head and have it welded-cleaned up, or replace the head entirely.

Ahhh crap That's what I had feared, fortunately good condition used heads can be found fairly cheap around here, so I guess the simpler (but more work for me) option would be to transplant a known good complete head onto the block.
