I'm at a standstill right now on what to do. Haven't had too much time to work on it, but I'm still working on trying to figure out how to confirm that it is the lack of spark and nothing else.

First, I would probably take it apart (Megasquirt), and look for any sort of obvious issues or damage. Then from there, try to connect to it with a computer and make sure everything appears to be in order, functioning properly, etc. IIRC you were able to connect to it once, but have not been able to since? Perhaps that's a sign it's not working right anymore?

and you'd be spending weeks and weeks not having a running miata too.

if it cant run on the stock ECU, then the MS is NOT the FUCKING ISSUE.

Haha just so everyone is clear, I am currently working on trying to get the car running/started on the stock ECU and not the MS. Once I get things working on the stock ECU, then we can work on the MS from there. But right now, the stock ECU is in, the MAF is in and stock injectors are in. When I crank the car, I've noticed no spark and believe that is my issue, or at least the first one I'm trying to address.

Ok, so the way to go about being sure this is fixed is... tear out all the janky wiring and make it look like stock.

Braineack 08-14-2013 10:23 AM

have you remove all the shit wiring the PO messed up?

18psi 08-14-2013 10:32 AM

 remove the hacked up spiderweb rats nest wiring that is nearly destroyed at this point?

NO WAY GUYTHS. Time to keep troubleshooting

Its probably the driver side front wheel bearing :noob:

I think he should remove all the shit wiring. I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet.

18psi 08-14-2013 11:44 AM

OP,

I think your problem might be related to your wiring. Just a guess.

codrus 08-14-2013 12:10 PM

Having looked at the car in person, most of the hacked up wiring isn't in anything related to the CAS/ECU/igniter/coil circuits. It's stupid stuff like power wires for stereo, fog lights, extra cigarette lighter adapter, etc. The exception is the mess that is the ignition switch & start button -- that one really should be cleaned up.

HH: If you've checked for power/ground & continuity in the four components mentioned above, then the next step is to put an oscilloscope on those wires and look to see if you're actually getting CAS signals, if the ECU is actually generating igniter pulses, etc. That will let you narrow it down to a single component that isn't doing what it's supposed to, either because it's broken or because some other input that it's expecting is not coming through.
