Here is a real short sound video, too many cops out to really get on it. I will try and get a better video later and also the video does not do this bov justice.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr6Y7uNEvXQ

sounds good to me-

BRG-
Did you get a new BOV swapped in? Which one? I just went out and tried to make an 18psi run and it could get over 15, which was the same peak I was seeing before I adjusted the MBC. Is this similar to what you were seeing that made you suspect leaking? - rob

Sounds nice. :bigtu:
Love how the turbo comes on at 3500

Rob,

I suspected leaking b/c a slow boost drop after 15psi down to 13psi despite a pretty hefty helper spring (which I later replaced b/c I was overboosting). I figured it was the BOV b/c I had the plastic bosch one that is reported to leak a little around 10psi-ish. I did get a new bov swapped in, but now am having other issues to get to first (it's always something dammit!). I bought a used one of solfarick (ebay copy I think) because I needed something quick which I tried out a little bit and is working just fine the little that I tested it, but I also got a dsm 1g that's sitting on the shelf as a backup.

sounds similar to my GReddy Type-S

this one? I was considering it... tho I guess it's sold. ;)

Well I've got the exact same scenario/symptoms - even down to the helper spring and over boosting. It made it obvious when 1/4+ turn on the mbc did nothing but raise my initial spike by a few fractions. thanks.

Braineack 05-02-2007 09:11 AM

...im gradually gaining boost as I near the redline, with no boost spikes

Do you use a helper spring with the standard T360 wastegate actuator?

m2cupcar 05-02-2007 11:51 AM

With the use of a helper spring I got my drop after peak boost down to less than 1 psi. Which I was told "as good as it gets" at near 15psi and an internal gate. But when I turned down my mbc a little more than 1/4 turn, I got a 16 psi peak, an immediate drop to 15psi and then down to 14psi about 2k later- and 14psi held to redline. That boost curve/pattern was similar to what I was seeing before the helper spring.

A quarter + turn on the mbc was making a 3psi difference before. I'll turn it another 1/4 turn and see if it makes a difference, though I it will only raise the peak/spike.

At 9psi I had a flat boost curve- it would just stop and stay there.

not me, if that was directed towards me. I do have a new wastegate can...that's about it. and a cheap ass home built MBC.

Just went out and made a full throttle run after make a full turn down on the mbc. Got essentially the same boost level (~15psi), except now I can actually hear the bosch bov leaking... just sounds like a continuous bov whoooooooooooooooooooosh.
