A while back, I made a typo while entering a starting destination into Google maps. It decoded the zip code as being in Italy, and as a result, about halfway through the "turn by turn" directions, it instructed me to cross the Atlantic ocean and enter the Port of New York.

Of course, XKCD recently played on this as well:
