brake calipers the same?
the caliper itself is the same for 90-93 as well as 94-on correct, just the brackets are different?

yep.

Yes, but.................
If you have new 1.6 pads, they wont fit the 1.8 rotors. If you have some "seasoned" 1.6 pads, they will work with the 1.8 rotors. 1.6 pads are WAAAAAY thicker than 1.8's. |
miata brakes generally suck. Someone needs to make a 11.3" vr6 swap kit or something. Those brakes were awesome.
I'm seriously thinking it might be cost effective to buy the wilwood front brakes. |
Miata brakes are "ok" IMHO, if you want brakes that suck, drive a DSM.
From what I understand, it is pretty easy to adapt the RX7 S2 calipers/rotors to the Miata. I think they are 12" rotors, with 4 pot calipers. I'd have to do some math to figure out if the calipers would play nice with the Miata master cylinder. |

and technically the front 1.8 pads are a little thinner and the rears are a tad thicker. |

that would be cool. I don't really want to spend any more money on this car.
someone was selling the fronts only with capilers, custom brackets, and rotors for $200 shipped. |

Thanks |
I thought the FM wilwood bbk were vr6 rotors, just bracketed to fit the miata. might be wrong though
|
I'm also still toying with the idea of 01 sport brakes, but apparently its hard to get pads for those.

that would be cool, because I have some 11.3" vr6 rotors in the garage that I could just drill lug holes for. The goodwin site says they run the 11" rotor, which is hopefully the stock corrado rotor. |
the 99+ sport brakes get you close...
10.6" F and 10.9" R, IIRC The 2001+ Sport brakes have a different rear caliper. They have a 1.375" bore instead of the previous 1.25" bore. |

10.6" F and 10.9" R, IIRC I will just run the stock 1.8 rear brakes with a prop valve. |
fwiw, here's the info on the VW swap: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...rt+brakes+size
are these the "sliders" you are talking about: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...n&key=MIAB1095 |
