IMHO, I think that for tuning, it's better to have fewer cars and pay for the loading dyno, but for a full out dyno day, it just seems to keep growing so cheaper and just power runs makes more sense. Plus, if we keep going back to the same dyno the results are more comparable in a way.

Heck, if there's a lot of interest beside a few local guys, I'll make better plans, just let me know.

I'd love in the spring to have a big dyno day and have peeps chip in and I'll buy food/drink for the grill at the dyno to have a big BBQ as well since it seems to take almost all day. Or, if some of the guys want to make a longer weekend of it, there is a ton of fun stuff that we never get to because we're stuck at the dyno. Just to name a few that are right nearby: paintball, kart racing, firing range (with rental fully autos), drag strip, and good eats for the fatties. I'm running it by the wife (and it might be college style crashing on the floor type thing), but I could probably house 4-5 guys for the peeps coming up from far so we can fit in more stuff. Just a thought.

Hell, if there's enough advanced warning for next year, it would be awesome to have a east coast dyno day and make a road trip of it. Might even get a discount if we rented a block of rooms in the same place. Just a thought.

oops. i guess i shoulda kept my mouth shut.

seriously though i'm as interested in doing some dyno tuning as i am seeing what she's putting down.

Some of you guys who are dyno tuning your maps for the first time are going to need a lot more time than you think. If you come in with a decent fuel map, I still could see 2 hours on the dyno--maybe 3--to get spark and boost dialed in. Large groups may not be practical.

Power runs are a different story.

i'd like to think i have decent fuel map already, just want to squeeze out any additional horses i can get for free. I have not touched my timing map though and would like to.

That makes sense. Hopefully I can get a 90% solution with some street tuning. I know for sure I'm not going to see how far my little T25 will go. I know it's good for plenty more, but 220whp is my goal/limit. Even though I baby my 6"dif, I know it's only a matter of time. I'll have my 8psi wastegate and a dash switch to engage the EBC to whatever boost I need for 220whp. THE END!

You know you wanna make 250 hp...

You should probably go ahead and tune for the limits of the turbo, as long as the car's already on the dyno and you have tuning support there with you. You can always choose to run less (or more) boost easily at any time by tweaking the ebc settings as long as everything's already tuned. May as well make that switch a 3 position. Position 1 = boost map 1, position 2 = boost map 2, position 3 = ebc off. I was planning on dual boost maps when we tuned my car. However, that never came to fruition as I'm never turning any of the boost settings down.

You're not going to have a 6" diff for forever. Especially with this recent trend of $450 swaps...

Whatever. Just saying you should go ahead and get the tune done, while you're already on the dyno.

I'll probably show up, I don't think I'll do any pulls already have my base, my turbo won't be on yet. Maybe MS will be in, and all that will have changed is a intake manifold.

And then you'll convince yourself to sell your MSM and go Garrett. :bigtu:

Ahh excellent idea!
