Brilliant Black Paint code
Trying to find the paint code for Brilliant Black, I came across this on another forum but have no Idea what the difference between the two are.
PX - Brilliant Black PZ - Brilliant Black Clearcoat If someone can explain I would greatly appreciate it thanks! |
I think the earlier cars did not get a clearcoat.
the PZ is probably a multi-stage paint. |
The paint code should be listed on the VIN sticker in the door jamb. My 94 is a PZ. If you believe the info about PX/PZ mine should have a clear coat, but it definitely does not because even light polishing with a random orbital results in black pads. This jives with the commonly accepted info that the only NAs with clear coats were the metallic ones (silverstone et al) and the standard colors started getting clear coats on the NBs. Of course, if your NA was ever repainted it could have a non-factory clear coat. If you don't know for sure, some polish on a white rag will tell you. FWIW, Rosenthal only sells PZ and not PX.

All it really is is just straight black I believe. I dunno it's been awhile since I pulled my paint code at the body shop but IIRC it's pretty much 1683 which is pure black. No need to complicate a simple color with yellows and whites
