Broken coolant temp sensor
 

Recently my coolant sensor plug broke, so my reading for my coolant are way off and my engine is overheating due to the radiator fan not turning on when it should.
does anybody know where I can get such a plug?
I am located in the netherlands so if anybody knows any vendors or replacement parts?

otherwise, look at this thread and the connector is listed in AbeFM’s Google docs sheet, maybe there is an electronics place in Europe that can sell you the components.

just one thing… both will sell you the parts to make the plug. You still have to have a specific crimper for the pins. If you don’t, it’s more money you have to invest. Ballenger warned me some crimpers (the expensive ones), are more successful than others…. I didn’t understand back then, but the crimps are so tiny, it’s possible you bend the crimp wrong, or it doesn’t hold well. It takes a little practice. So if you do crimp, buy extra pins. I got the Hozan P-706 as they recommended, (cheaper option). I’m sure there are others that are cheaper nowadays.

…It’s possible you could de-pin the existing pigtail yourself and just slide into the new one, it it can be frustrating if you haven’t done it before, it’s frustrating even if you HAVE done it before. :rofl:

…the other option is just to find a car partout, and see if someone will send you a cut plug with a few centimeters of wire remaining, then you can just splice that in.

In my experience electrical plugs don't just break - they need help. You sure the sensor end is OK? I ask because these sensors can die, I had one fail gradually and it played havoc on the dyno with the tune, and if you had any question mark over the connection, that is two reasons to replace the sensor (assuming it is an old/original sensor of course).

Ballenger sells connectors with pigtails too. Depinning would be neater fix though if it was me I'd hit up the wreckers.

yeah thanks for the tip. I am pretty certain it is the connector because the whole wire is cut into 2.
I will hit up some wreckers but in the meantime I ordered the counterpart from toyota which seems to fit aswell, but I still need to find out. The toyota connector is the 90980-11451 connector. It seems to have the same shape and wires and such and it is for the same purpose.

Please report back if that Toyota connector fits. I also have a broken coolant sensor connector (retainer clip perished and fell off, plug feels brittle in general). It seems easier to get uncommon new Toyota parts than Mazda parts here in Australia.

I will, that is also why I put the part number and such in the post so other people can find it. But you'll have to wait a week or 2 because shipping times are unbearable at the moment
