Bushings

I'm getting wonderful squeaky noises from under the car now, and after some checking and prodding, and considering the age of the car, I've decided it's probably a good time to do the bushings since they are still the OEM ones ('95, 75k miles).
However, who sells them? I've seen the ones FM and Rosenthal has to offer, but I know that there has to be other vendors out there. Energy Suspension only seems to do sways, so what has anyone else used?

Goodwin racing sells polyurethane bushings and the MS bushings.

Don’t the polyurethane performance bushings make even more sqeeek? I could be wrong though...just thought I remembered reading that at some point.

if you buy from fm make sure they have them in stock. when i ordered mine they were in australia, two months later my bank account was overdrafted after a $400 charge because they shipped without telling me.

The FM ones are what I'm running... no squeeks for the first 9 months and 15K miles... now one corner is starting to squeek. You get used to it. If the top is down you can't hear it over the wind noise @ speed above 15 mph. If the top is up you can't hear it over the stereo at low volume.

There is also an australian company I ran across yesterday looking for volvo suspension. I can't remember their name but they has stuff for miata's and it was about the same price as FM.

Are the bushings easy to replace?

mazda/nissan 07-05-2007 07:56 PM

how much noise can they produce? i have a problem with my front left.... it wasn't bad until i wrecked and then i had to replace the struts since one was always bottoming out, but it is still rattlin' and clanking, could this be a bushing or a loose spring/strut?

Vashthestampede 07-05-2007 08:08 PM

I think sometimes its a PITA getting the old ones out...

The Powerflex poly bushings are designed not to squeek, unlike the other brands.

It's not too bad... figure on 2 hours/corner if you have done miata suspension before. 4-5 hours a corner if not. I think it took me and a buddy each working on one side of the car about 7 hours to do all 22 bushings.

I think you are referring to the Aussie made super pro bushes, I believe that these are what FM sell. I and a number of other Aussies have these in our MX-5s and love them.

There is this set of bushings

Maruha/Mazdaspeed bushing set

Also there is a set that has some bushings Poly and some rubber. Apparently it is not expensive, gives a good ride without being to firm.
