wow, some exhaust guy was desperate to put on that hanger...not the greatest design.

I would say get more hanger material(longer), and get someone to wrap it around that muffler inlet at least a few inches, then weld it. That's the only way you will get any support out of the angle that hanger has to be.

EDIT:
Oh wait, this is hustler's thread, you can probably bend that shit by hand to the 3" diameter of the pipe, shoot a load onto it and wait for it to petrify solid. You're car won't hit a track before then anyways.

wayne_curr 05-07-2009 04:52 PM

how the fuck? You can go more ghetto til you get it welded and use some of that muffler tape crap.

Also, whats up with the oily axle?

Edit: I see now, the hanger broke off.

mrtonyg 05-07-2009 04:52 PM

That tore off because of stress...if you weld it up in the same spot it and not address the cause of the stress, it will just come apart again.

What he said

Vashthestampede 05-07-2009 04:54 PM

I would think having a muffler shop weld the chunk back into place should be sufficient.

Did one of your boots rip on the axle shafts or something?

hustler 05-07-2009 04:55 PM

I think/hope the oily axle is from the previous motor that coated everything...I mean everything. I contemplated power washing my under-carriage today.

I have a new pumpkin with new seals so its a moot point.

m2cupcar 05-07-2009 04:56 PM

Yes. Patch the pipe and weld the hanger rod to the muffler so it doesn't happen again.

enthuza. I haven't contacted Jason yet, but hopefully he'll see this thread and reconsider that hanger location.

I already "spackled" it.

I've only heard good things about their products, but I can't afford them.

At least I can only blame myself when I build my own.

StankCheeze 05-07-2009 05:30 PM

I've filled in holes way bigger than that with just filler metal. If it's not rusting out underneath that soot, Anybody worth a shit with a welder should be able to fill it in.

jayc72 05-07-2009 05:42 PM

edit

cueball1 05-07-2009 05:58 PM

I had an enthuza hanger break off also. Only a small part of the weld actually adhered to the pipe! Didn't take any of the pipe with it like that one did. It was just poor welding, not stress that caused my problem. Muffler shop ran a longer bead on it. It's on for good now.

In defense of them, this was Jason's personal exhaust I bought from him used. May not have been up to usual retail standards.

Savington 05-07-2009 06:25 PM

I had an Enthuza hanger break as well. That exact one, IIRC. Had a fab guy weld it back up and add an extra support.

Vashthestampede 05-07-2009 06:44 PM

Well fucking shit, I hope mine doesn't break. lol

DontPassTheFence 05-07-2009 07:56 PM

who does that? nice hanger location olololol

just use some vent tape on it and then tie it off with bailing wire, itll be all good.

thymer 05-07-2009 08:02 PM

two hose clamps and a piece of tin can to seal the hole, hang the pipe with safety wire. Don't be a pussy.

It's Hustler. For all his e-thuggery, he's an old lady when it comes to his car.

jayc72 05-08-2009 10:46 AM

This is interesting information, especially since I just order this exhaust.

Enthuza 05-08-2009 02:11 PM

Sorry for the trouble guys. I'll start adding a brace to the upper side of the exhaust on the inlet side. If anyone had trouble with this issue and needs another hanger or something let me know. Of the ones that broke are they stainless or aluminized and was it daily driver or track driven car? Jason

Just finished a 3" system and added aditional brace for the hanger. Jayc72 I haven't built your yet. Don't worry, I'll start adding the additonal brace from here out. Do you guy think this will work? Sorry for the lousy photo. Jason

cueball1 05-08-2009 03:08 PM

DD and track day car. Stainless. The one that broke on mine was shown here. There was actually very little of the weld that took. It came off very cleanly and there was some corrosion/dirt on most of backside of the weld. Again, this was the one I bought used off your car. Not necessarily a good representation of what the public gets.

Forget the extra piece, bend the end of the main piece into a "C" shape and weld it in 2 or 3 spots, so it's cupping the tube like a good prostitute would.

Enthuza 05-08-2009 03:22 PM

Cueball, Thanks for the info. I have changed that hanger in the intermediate pipe to a differnent design that i like better and is stronger. b0ne i'll try your method looks good. Jason
