can someone explain the OP gauge on my 95?

I've read they aren't very accurate (obviously). Should I pay any attention to it at all? Where should the needle normally read at? Do the two marks on the gauge signify a certain pressure?

It doesn't read the same as gauges on other cars I've had in the past. Usually they are way more responsive to throttle (as I've read in other posts about the gauges on the 1.6 cars).

It's a dummy gauge. It won't respond to any normal fluctuation of OP. I forget what the trigger levels are, but it's almost like an idiot light.

I have a 95 also, but have installed a gauge and sender from a 90-94 Miata and feel it was a good mod.

they changed it in the 95 cars, you need a sender from an older miata and you need to do a gauge swap, not sure what the exact procedure is, but you'll find it if you search either here or on mnet
good luck

Sometimes it reads a little closer to the right than it does the middle. Is that ok? When should i get worried? When it passes the line that is just to the right of the middle or when it moves all the way to the right?

Trackdog sells a sending unit.
http://www.trackdogracing.com/websit...essure_kit.htm

Its $80.00.

http://prosportgauges.com/52mm-elect...ure-gauge.aspx 52mm ProSport Electric Oil pressure gauge and sending unit, $43.99.
http://prosportgauges.com/amber-whit...ure-gauge.aspx 52mm ProSport Premium Oil pressure gauge, $104.99.

They're very accurate gauges, and what I'd recommend. But thats just my opinion.

dont pay attention unless it drops completely. If you are concerned, and you probably should be, pick up the sender and gauge out of a 90-94 miata. That will give you an actual reading and it will bolt right in.

thank you!

"Sex Vegan"? :giggle: Go check out panicmotorsports.com and ask Steve if he has any sending units and gauges from 90-94 miatas. He's a good guy and charges a fair price with quick shipping.

I have a 90-94 'real' gauge and sender available. If interested PM
