can't find the cool sheetmetal radio / gauge holder

Its all one piece, silver in color, and not painted or anything. Its one piece that bolts in place and holds the radio, 2,3 or 2 gauges and a few LED's.

Thanks for the help.

DDM Works.

I have one, the fit is outstanding.

hustler 07-12-2007 07:46 AM

awesome, thanks.

www.rspeed.net sells the DDM Works. Fit and finish is great.

m2cupcar 07-12-2007 09:27 AM

:werd: Mine is "normal" install with the gauges under the radio. BUT I believe somebody installed it flipped so the gauges were above. Might be worthwhile looking into since you're tracking the car. :dunno:

Mitch "brokeenthusiast" had one he pulled out of his miata when he de turboed it. It was in the classifieds here, don't know if it's sold or not. You should email him to see if he's still got it.

I thought the DDM piece was pricey for what it is... So I made my own DIN panel from carbon fiber and cut it for gauges. (actually 1 gauge and 1 power outlet but whatev)

Yeah I plan on making one myself removing my HVAC and replacing it with a CarPC monitor, 3 gauges, then 3 switches probably just using flat aluminum or plastic and painting it black.

Yup that's the one that is in my car, I purchased it from him a month or so ago. Definately worth the price. It is such a nice clean install. I had a gauge panel/radio bracket I made previously and there is no comparison, the DDM Works unit is top notch.

I have an a-pillar dual pod thingy, but I don't want the ricer look.

I still don't understand why having a pillar pod is considered rice. I can understand it from the perspective if your car isn't turbo'd and you have a boost gauge or some crap like that mounted up there.
But personally I like having my important gauges in an easy to view location without having to look around or down. I have a full dual pod, not one of those "screw over your pillar" kind though. Plus a DDMWorks dual gauge radio mount.

m2cupcar 07-12-2007 11:30 AM

it's rice when the boost gauge won't go over 0 ;)
That's where my boost gauge sits. EGT, oil temp and a/f are in the DDM center mount. I think they're pricey bacause they're ss and hand made. Mine was a prototype that had bend marks in it, so it was cheap. I just had it black crinkle powder coated when I did the cam cover bits. I think the location is fine for a street car- track car maybe... Racer would want them near the wheel.

Ben 07-12-2007 11:33 AM

hustler if it's really going to be a track car, pull out the radio and replace the whole area with a sheet of ABS, that will give you a ton of room for gauges. If you are planning to drive in and back from the track, drill in an ipod adaptor (just a headphone plug) and run it to a small amp in the trunk.

Rob, that's a good call. The other "bad" thing about the DDM piece is it's shiney. I would think that it would be annoying as hell with the top down. But what do I know, I don't have one.

Cause the old farts on m.net said so,that's why.

Hustler why don't you put the gauges in the center vent holes instead. The best part about that is it's free,I know you like free.

jayc72 07-12-2007 02:00 PM

I haven't had any issue with reflections. Once you have 3 gauges and an HU mounted there is surprisingly little of the thing showing.

It's pretty and I like it!

They also powder coat them in black. That's what I got just because I wanted to minimize chrome and shiney parts on the interior. It was at no extra cost either, which drove home the deal. It's definitely a solid piece.

jayc72 07-12-2007 02:03 PM

I'm not a huge fan of the a pillar pod either ... I've got a boost gauge installed there. Everyone behind me can see it and it feels like every idiot with a civic, 240 or DSM piece of shit wants to race me. So I wouldn't say it is rice, but it attracts it.

steelrat 07-12-2007 02:18 PM

TDR does make one, but I'm not sure if it's an M2 only piece.....

I went on the DDM works website and they stopped selling the sheet metal radio/gauge holder that has no holes drilled. That sucks,I fucking should have bought one when they were on sale and still in stock.

jayc72 07-12-2007 02:28 PM

Try sending them an email, they might be able to accomodate you.

IDK if it will help you any but I have a mount that was in my car before the DDMworks piece made out of sheet metal and coated black. No holes, fit great. Had a Sony unit in there.
