carbon fenders
hey guys just wondering if anyone has got these?
http://www.andysautosport.com/mazda/...o00128214.html I am thinking about getting some. what is the finish like? do they fit like stock? how much weight can be saved? thanks guys! |
why not just get some of the ebay fiberglass fenders?
|
because carbon is sexier and I dont want to paint them.
|
true that they do look better unpainted, but i would wait for someone to chime in about whether they have a nice gel type coat or not. Also sport compact car magazine had some carbon fiber fenders on their time attack miata, i don't know if these are the same but i can list where they got theres from when i get back home

Unless your car is black it will look like shit. I have a friend who's got a blue WRX with a carbon trunk/rear bumper/hood/fenders and his car looks like a fucking rice rocket.
All of Matt Andrew's car (the CF Time Attack miata) is done by APR with the exception of the front bumper which is a custom one-off replica of a RB type II nose. |

fiberglass is heavy and sucks my donkey dick. it would shatter if my fat ass leaned against it. |

4 layers of carbon is expensive, 1 layer and 3 of fiberglass is much cheaper. |

Most carbon car parts you see (with the exception of high end shit) are simply 1 layer of CF and the rest fiberglass.

I really like:
quote How do you install carbon fiber fenders? Carbon fiber fenders are usually OEM fit and finish which means un-bolting your factory fenders and replacing them with the carbon fiber fenders. Little to no modification is needed to get these to fit properly. endquote Little means mod the hell out of it, and really try to get it fit. Hand made or whatever carbon type stuff is made from doesn't fit like steel stamped fenders. |

Saying fiberglass will crack easier then CFiber is pretty iffy. In my experience the products I've had that are CF vs fiberglass crack pretty much the damn same. Just like previously mentioned, the CF products on the market are pretty much fiberglass.

I think it is, I have a picture of it somewhere.

sorry I missed this. The carbon fenders are made by Axis Power Racing. Call them, he has made a couple sets.

Looks exactly like AutoKonexion trunk lid.. only with a real sized lip on the back and less fitment issues.
|
Hell, I would love to know what the actual weight savings will be in the end...
Couldn't be much... |
I want that hood.

Couldn't be much... If those are CF doors i remember reading somewhere they saved 50 lbs each side. Plus fenders/hood/trunk lid. |
