CAS O-Ring Replacement PIA
What a pain to do. Took me 2 hours to realize I couldn't do it w/ out taking off the valve cover. Finished getting the "ears" in 2 minutes after my revelation. Popping that sucker back in w/ the new o-ring was a task in itself too. At least it doesn't seem to be leaking anymore.

Make sure you change the heater hose below it. If it's been leaking, the heater hose is about to go.
|
That's another nice thing about the 1.6: No heater hose under the CAS. Leakage just lubes the transmission bolts.

Seal must have bonded with the rear cam cap housing if you had to remove the valve cover completely. I usually only have to loosen the rear bolts on the valve cover.

Weird. When i installed the one in my '99 i pulled the "cap", felt for the grooves, lined up the cas and stuck it in her. Put the cap back under the valve cover and bolted it down. I take it the 1.6 doesn't have the "cap"?
