In case you didnt know, new AEM piggyback!

Sounds pretty promising. Here's the thread on miata.net

It sounds like a pretty good setup for people looking for something better than an EMB but don't want to pay the extra $$ for an EMU or MSnS

why do you think it's promising? it's like an emanage blue, without the history and support you would get if you went emb.

IMO, if you're going to go piggy, sack up the other couple hundred $$ for the EMU and remove your afm/maf.

of course if you have a 90-93 you should be looking at the $700 MSPNP instead of any other $500+ piggy solution. and soon, hopefully, there will be a 94-95 MSPNP on the market.

controls injectors directly. Run any size injector.

Flying Miata says Piggybacks suck, so I'm taking that as gospel.

I bet it will be pretty sick if its from AEM.

Pitlab77 05-28-2007 05:20 PM

because unlike EMU it will be piggy back for 99+, thats why. Plus it has a lot of decent features. Not everyone wants a full standalone if the piggy can fully control timing, fully control injectors (not modify) and allow the stock ecu to control other functions (like the alternator in the NB's)

meh.

SloS13 05-29-2007 08:24 AM

it'll emulate a MAF sensor too. No more breaking down when a hard-to-reach coupler blows :)

karter74 05-29-2007 11:03 AM

It sounds decent for people with OBDII. They say it will be under $400 so not far off from an EMB, but with better features. I hadn't heard if you could delete the MAF or not, if so, it seems like an even better product.

I'm in if this hits the market before a 96-97 PnP MS

While the EMB does obviously have a larger support base right now, I still don't think it's very user friendly. Japanese icons for some of the maps, etc...if the software for the AEM piggy is anything like the software for the AEM EMS, it will be a lot more intuitive and easier for anyone to use.

I wonder if this AEM Piggy will have antistall...that's the only reason my EMB is on my subie.
