Default Roll Bar + Tower Bar?

In my '93 I had installed a seatbelt tower bar to stiffen the chassis, but I removed it when I installed my roll bar. Has anyone left the seatbelt tower bar in with the roll bar, or does it become largely redundant?

Is the spacing the same on the NA to the NB?

if so:

How sketchy would it be to use that as a harness bar?

not the best idea I've heard all week, but seriously, what is a flimsy little steering wheel really going to do to your sternum?

The bar I have is a solid steel bar about 1/2" to 3/4" in diameter. I Imagine it might be useable as a harness bar- hadn't thought of that. That being said. I would feel more comfortable using the one made for my roll bar...

@levnubhin- mine is just bolted down with the seatbelt upper bolts, which have to come out for the roll bar anyway. Is yours a lot harder to remove?

From what I remember, the stock cockpit brace is not attached to the same place as the factory seat belts, right next to it but obviously not designed to handle an impact. Don't use it, Hard Dog makes a bolt in harness bar that replaces the cockpit brace and mounts with the same bolts as the seat belts. Its pretty beefy, I run it.

Theres a HUGE thread around here somewhere which that was the debate.. Don't do it. That bar is very very tiny and the welds are really weak. BAD BAD JewJew..

The stock brace mounts into the holes on the inside of the seatbelt mounts.

Although it mounts to holes on the seatbelt towers, IIRC, if you look at the actual holes themselves they are clearly not strong enough to serve as a a harness brace. Not sure if thats what you meant, if not disregard!
