I got my car back from the shop this afternoon. I went to see it while they were finishing it up and while it was on stands I put it in 2nd gear and hit the gas. The whining sound is gone but the thump is still there. I got below the car and the only thing I could see was some play in 2 counterweight couplings located in the shaft just in front of the diff. My question is: does anyone know what those counterweights are called and where I can buy them?

By your description it sounds like your talking about the u joint in the driveshaft. They are part of the driveshaft and aren't spec'd to be changed separately.

I replaced my old 1.6 driveshaft with a 1.8 when I installed my Torsen. Vash- |
