Chipmunks in my engine!
My guess is that my 90 is having that short nose crank pully maybe getting loose. that maybe, causes the tensioner to loosen a bit so now maybe, just maybe, the t-belt is dancing with the tensioner and is making the chipmunk squeek. what do u guys think? and tighten that 21mm crank pulley bolt?

spray belt conditioner all over you're pullies & belts and see if that doesn't make it sound better. If you don't have conditioner, use tire shine, or armor-all dash stuff.
|
If it is the short nose crank problem, best to do the locktight fix before it goes beyond repair.

I've heard of people using RTV black silicone stuff on the ribs of the belt...my friend used to do that on his boosted 01 SS...good idea/bad idea...it does get rid of squeaks and such.

well, it would just be to rule out if it's slipping/old belts. that's all.

Ah, gotcha.:bigtu:

ok, i will try that, but if its not the belts(alt, pwr steering & ac) then is it maybe......???

mine has had a similar noise since my last timing belt job. since then I've swapped engines, belts, TB idlers, etc etc. The noise is still there and doesn't appear to be hurting anything. So I've decided to ignore it till something breaks.

my friend said that it is the short nose crank. it is gettin loose and is causing the the sound. he thinks that i should try to pull it out, lock tight it, and see what happens. I wish that i got a 93 1.6 instead of a 90 1.6, DOH! anyone else have any other theory before i have to remove my fans, sway bar, and intercoller pipes, etc.............?
