Chump car special

So what's better than mariner blue miata? A FREE (yes free) '91 mariner blue miata!
Was given to me by a friend - was sitting for a couple years. Tires were flat & dead battery. Got back to the shop and put in the track car battery and the bitch started right up, won't idle though. Added some pump 93 to see if it would help - negative. The clutch pedal was limp as well. Found the fork retaining clip had broke or something that the fork won't maintain position for engaging the pressure plate. Other than that, it's a great find. I'm thinking Chump with other local buds. That way it doesn't break the bank so I can still focus on the track car. I'll give you 500 dollars for it.

Would be cool if the admin of this site had a miata...
|
Awesome. So you'll be ready for AMP on November 1st, right? ;)

You don't want to Chump car a 91. Between not having the 1.8 rear end, and the bigger displacement you won't be competitive. 94/95 miata is where it is at for Chump.
Now you could possibly make it a decent Lemons car. |

I almost bought a smurf a few weeks ago and the dillhole sold it from under me. Still wants. |

Disagree. The 1.6 has a lower chump MPV (declared value). It could be a top 10 car, except at a high HP track where no Miata would be competitive.
I think a 90-93 could make a very competitive Lemons car. Sell off enough stuff you could easily get a MS1 in there, and Lemons tends to go to some east coast tracks where power is not as big of a requirement. |

90-93 miatas have a MVP of $325, 94-95 miatas have a MVP of $400. Not sure what you could do with that extra $75 to pick up any power. We ran a 94 at VIR with a maxed value of $500 and came in 5th place in the 24 hour endurance race. Consensus in the thread about it was that all the east coast tracks need the power more then handling. I have yet to go out to AMP so I am not sure what is needed at that track.

The 75 points (it's a points system this year, not a $ value) between the 1.6 and 1.8 gets you a standalone (75 points) or almost gets you to coil overs (20 per corner). |

There were a couple of 1.6 cars at NCM this weekend that did well in the standings on day one. Though one did grenade a motor on the last lap of Day 1 and the other bowed out on day 2 with an unknown mechanical.

First Miata I ever drove was a smurf, with autotragic. Then I came to my senses and bought an NA8/5 speed :giggle: I do still like the color and it would be high on my list should I ever own an NA again.
Wait, is this not a FS thread? |
