Miata turbo 5,700 1.6
No spaming at all, just found this car and seems a good deal in the Miami FL area. http://images.craigslist.org/3na3me3...25ce57140d.jpg It seems between paintjob, bodykit, turbo system, etc for that price is not bad at all, very tempting for me as it is very close by. Dont like very much the rear bumper cutout... http://images.craigslist.org/3kb3m93...1cf29d1802.jpg The Specs according to the listing: Engine: Rebuilt it myself with OEM internals, Clevite bearings, Fel Pro Gaskets. 5700 for that shit? LOLOLOL

The guy's put a ton of work into it. Whether you like the outcome is a personal matter. My preference is less style and more substance.
Wonder why he's selling. Must have a lot more than 5.7K in it. |
LOL @ "rebuilt with OEM internals". Why would you rebuild something that is about to be boost with stock internals? To each his own I guess.
|
FYI, this is Hyper's best friend. So......expect some Hyper magic if you buy this thing.
|
OH SHIT.
 It must have the super secret coolant reroute |
:ugh:
Gross. I would only buy that to part it out. |
All depends on if it's worth it to you. Parts list doesn't seem all that bad. Probably the most important part about that car is where and who tuned it. I bought my car with a fair amount of extra stuff on it because it was stuff I wanted and stuff I liked and would have purchased anyway. See if he has receipts for the engine work and/or parts.
When buying a car, I'd always get the one in the best body/paint condition (given it wasn't fresh from an accident...but that's pretty easy to spot to anyone with a little knowledge). If I were in the market for something like that car, I'd consider it. Personally, that front-end shot looks pretty mean...like the color. Too bad all that money was spent and they went with shitty Sportfag wheels. Some 15x9 TR C3Ms would look better on there. |
Not a big fan of the hood but all in all it looks pretty good. Ask yourself this though, do you really want to get into someone else's problems. I have sold and bought problem cars and I always try to tell the buyer absolutely everything I know about the car good and bad. Most people are not like this they just want it gone because there is a problem they cannot fix or figure out. Then every once and a while you find someone who just wants to start a new project now that the old one is done. Just be careful when buying highly modded cars that do not have a lot of documentation.

i'm burning oil and need to eventually replace piston rings. i thought, hell, while everything has to be taken apart, might as well look into aftermarket rods and pistons. but there's a big cost difference and i don't have the means to do this myself, do i'd be paying labor as well. that's my reason. now back to your regular scheduled programming. |

My mistakes...
Yeah, Looking at this, the reality is that you are (probably) buying someone else's problem. The things that sound like warning bells to me are the self-built engine with internals, and that he did all the work himself. If he is really competent and knows what he is doing (a bit less likely considering he rebuilt the engine, likely from fail, without replacing the problem areas with stronger parts, and put THAT body kit on it), then it could be great.
If not? You will find yourself in my shoes. I currently have my car getting completely rewired, because the guy I bought it from confused a plate of spaghetti with the wiring diagram, and wired it accordingly... This AFTER swapping out the $70 (new... and then rebuilt...) turbo, 1" turbo outlet pipe, all the vacuum hoses, etc (essentially, everything the guy I bought it from did himself). Luckily, he outsourced the engine rebuild, which was done right (with the actual workup sheet kept on that) by professionals that knew what they were doing. In the end, I still got a good car, but has required a LOT of work, and was not nearly as good a deal as I had originally thought it was. Don't pull a me. Do your research. Look deeper. |
I'm guessing short nose failure.

good luck with sale
