Closest 5v source to the ecu

I fried my first map sensor by hooking it up to a 12v source. Now i cant find a 5v source to solder into.

Don't know about the na's, but all of us adaptronic users are tapping into the tps for a 5v source and ground.

You're running an external MAP sensor with a MSPnP?

Closest +5 to the ECU is inside the ECU. Vref.

Jeff_Ciesielski 07-25-2009 08:22 PM

There is a wire on the ecu... 1n I believe. 5th one in from the outside on the bottom row of the smaller connector.

SKMetalworks 07-25-2009 08:31 PM

1n gives me battery voltage... Dont want to waste another 50

Can i hook up to any source that is lower than 5v? say 1.010v or .853v? As long as its no higher than 5 i should be okay right?

SKMetalworks 07-25-2009 10:02 PM

anyone?

turbobluemiata 07-25-2009 10:59 PM

has to be 5 volt

SKMetalworks 07-25-2009 11:13 PM

Can anyone show me exactly what wire they tapped into? I found a wire that was 5v i thought but once i soldered and turned on the car it read battery voltage, I shut it off within 2 seconds of giving it power.

Look at the MegaSquirt PnP Manual under the section on adding a variable TPS.

Note that there is a pad on the daughterboard called "5V Vref". This is the fused +5 supply that you'd normally use to power a variable TPS. You can connect this pad to an unused pin on the middle connector and then access it externally. The pinout of the center connector is listed in section two of the instructions.

Now tell us what you're doing with an external MAP sensor on an MSPnP. :D

2.5 bar on the MSpnp. 3bar on the WI kit.

Joe Perez 07-25-2009 11:44 PM

The WI kit does not include a +5 source to power the MAP sensor? Which kit are you using? If it's the DO progressive controller, the grey wire is a 5v output.

wow. ima idiot :bang:

Thank you Joe.
