Clutch noise
Hey all. My 01 just started making a lovely rattle from the drivetrain. When the clutch pedal is pressed in there is a scratching rattle that isn't constant but is consistent. My guess is an unbalanced clutch or flywheel, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience. I'll post a video with sound later.
The previous owner told me he had a new clutch installed, however I plan to put a supermiata clutch in this winter. |
If it’s only when the clutch pedal is depressed it’s most likely your throw out bearing. |
2nd on the throw out bearing... they are easy to replace and run about $40. to get to it, however, you have to drop the trans.

Thanks guys, that makes a lot of sense. I plan on doing the clutch as soon as my Fiesta sells. Gonna try and make it last till then.

Not at all. Could be pilot bearing too—both are active when the pedal is depressed.

The noise is only present when clutch is disengaged (Pedal pushed in).

Pretty much implicates the TOB
