Clutch to Pick??? Exedy HD or ACT HD or Extreme?

OK, What should I pick? Exedy HD, or ACT HD? I'm planning on a maximum of 250wtq, if I ever trade my GT2554 for a Disco Potato. Otherwise I'll be around <210wtq.
Which do you think I should decide on?

I have a 6-puck act on its way, but I think I'm going to sell it and get something more streetable after doing some more research, and get a street disc.
My car WILL be mostly street driven and I would like to take it out on the track once in a while.

I have my Mazda Comp Motor Mounts, Slave cylinder, and Fork boot here at home, I'm just trying to figure out which clutch to pick, before I can turn my boost up to about 14psi and get a dyno tune.

Seems like the miata community leans towards ACT most of the time. I think the act HD is what im planning on going with.

I know more people will pitch in but theres also combinations between disc and pressure plate that will give you what you want.

theres also a good chance everyone might just tell you to search...

spec s3. I firmly believe that if you're not at stock power, then a metal clutch is the only way to go.

Carolina clutch has very good prices. I've never personally dealt with them, but others have and they seem like a decent company.

i guess were making this another clutch discussion thread,
1.8 clutch into a 1.6 any tru benefits,
lighting the stock clutch, how light?

Savington 08-09-2008 03:44 PM

Do the 1.8 clutch, it's larger so it clamps harder. For anything under 250wtq, do an ACT HD with a street disc and never worry about it again.

but will a ACT hd for a 1.8 used on a 1.6 feel like the ACT xt. if that makes sense?...

FYI, Flyin Miata is comin out with a clutch that is supposed to surpass the ACT. They go by Level I and Level II. I guess the Level I is supposed to be similar to an ACT HD with better holding power, and the Level II is supposed to be like an ACT XTreme with a better pedal feel. The prices look really resonable too, but they only have prototypes, they're awaiting the final release soon, and then I'm buyin a Level II. In the spring / summer catalog they have the part numbers and prices. BTW, I'm suprised a certain senior member didn't post something like, "how many more posts like this are we going to see?" I wouldn't do something like that though, cause I'm not a senior member, or a dickhead.

Do you guys think I'd get the same reliability and performance out of the Exedy as the ACT?
Exedy is a bit cheaper and they make so many OEM clutches.I know a lot of people love ACT, but I am really pulling toward the Exedy.

On Goodwin it says 52% increase in clamping pressure and compared it to the ACT HD.
Does that measure out to the same as ACTHD anyone know?

Find me a post where someone talks about the relatively new Exedy HD clutch and I will agree with you. Otherwise,

ACT HD extreme with steet disk = nice for DD, prob fine for track but I can't speak to that.
