Heat Sheild inquiries
I am looking for a heat shield for the turbo. If I get a sheet of aluminum and bend it around etc. etc. I still have to wrap my brake lines, hoses, etc. Right.
Or will it be sufficent.
Or I found this on ebay.

Has anyone used this?? If this works good. I'll just wrap the down pipe too. What do yall think?

I've got a blanket and it works well. No problems with anything in the engine bay melting. I still want a shield though to cover the top of the exhaust manifold between the head and the turbo inlet flange.

I figured I would spend just as much, geting sheet metal and buying wrap for the different hoses. I have saved alot by waiting for deals. Thank god.
If I did build a heat shield. What all hoses do I have to wrap. And on a second note. Does the 1.6 have to have a coolant reroute. I was thinking it already flowed out the back of it??????

I have the Begi heat shield between the turbo/downpipe and the rest of the engine bay stuff, and I still slightly melted the lever on my brake proportioning valve.
In addition to the heatshield I would definitely wrap either the hotside and downpipe or all the stuff behind there, like the heater hoses and brake lines. Having to cut an inch off the heater hose on the side of the road to make it home is no damn fun.

Coolant flow on the 1.6 is the same as on the 1.8. Water from the pump outlet goes into the block at the front, exits out the back of the head, goes through the heater core, and then right back into the pump inlet. The thermostat is at the front, and when open, bypasses some of the water from the pump outlet straight out the front of the block, through the radiator, then back into the pump inlet at the same point as the water coming from the heater core.
