Compatible ECUs??

I have a 95 with (BPL9) ECU...
what other 1.8 ECU's would be compatible with my car if any?

Joe Perez 04-17-2008 10:18 PM

This one: http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/

A '94 OEM ECU should also work.

As long as it's an earlier 95, Sometime in late 95 the ECU's changed to a Quasi 96-97. As many piggyback 95 folks have discovered...

Jamie, if you think its your ECU we can try mine once i pull it this weekend

TurboTim 04-18-2008 11:07 AM

yea lets do that man.
im still getting that crazy high Igniter voltage from the ECU so i want to swap it out with a known good ECU to see if its MY ecu or my wiring.

Zabac 04-18-2008 01:27 PM

i have a 96 wiring harness as well, not sure it will work thought, in case you may need one

Nah, just being an ass. Sorry to the OP.

Check if you have your RPM wire in the bigger harness and a blank in the smaller. If not.... then you have the pre-obd-ii 95.5 ecu, and you'll have to move wires around in the harness to test.

(I don't remember the pins off-hand).

yeah, no reason to not upgrage.

Zabac 04-18-2008 03:48 PM

well, he shoud make sure that his ECU is the problem before getting MS, if the problem is his wiring, can you imagine finding it after installing MS? I sure as hell can't. We can test my ECU in his car, his is the pre obdII, i checked, tach gets signal from coils.
If it is the ECU, he should def. get MS, if the problem is in wiring, I'd fix that before getting MS.

Exactly my reasoning.
Gonna be around this weekend?
just give me a call or something man we can get up and test this...
im also getting a CEL now with a #17 code (Sticking o2 sensor) no more #1 (Igniter signal)
