Considering registering my car to NV to drive it on the street- Full blow race car...
I live in Nevada and my car is currently registered as non-op in CA. If you don't know my car, its a full blown out race car.
No headlights/blinkers/any wires that don't make my car run. Its pretty bare boned and fast. I am away at college and wanna drive this bad boy on the street when the weather is nice. What do I have to do to get the car legally registered and drive able up here? pix from the last time I got to drive the car: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2015919_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3684366_n.jpg I would take off all the decals, and remove the wing and front splitter when I would drive it on the street. vidz: http://youtu.be/uf0g5Y4Yd_s |
no input other than....
YES! |
Come to SC where that is legal. No Safety or Emissions here.

Buy another silver Miata, copy the forms, copy the stickers.

Since its a California car, wouldn't it have to pass as a California car, even in NV? I feel like I just read a thread about a similar thing

Sounds like kids in a divorce, only see it once a month. Take it out for some fun. Then park it until the next visitation comes. Seriously, your car is bad ass. I would love to see it in person someday.

looks like you can get "Classic Rod" plates. Vehicles registered with Classic Vehicle, Classic Rod or Old Timer license plates and driven 2,500 miles or less per year are exempt from emissions testing. Vehicles classified as historic certifies the vehicle will be maintained for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses. The vehicle owner further certifies the vehicle will not be used for general daily transportation or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways. |

I ended up keeping it, its been sitting in my parents garage for the past 7 months. It gets fired up every 4 weeks, warmed up and driven for about 15-20 min then parked.

I can't imagine that any state other than CA enforcing different tailpipe standards for CA vs non-CA cars. |

The smart thing to do would be to enjoy it at the track, but if it were me I'd bring it over to NV and try to register it anyways.
If you have time this weekend and don't mind driving down I'm cleaning up the wiring in my car. A second opinion and some help would be appreciated. |
