Yes, once I pulled over and popped the hood it was pissing out a nice steady stream. 20deg temperature fluctuations on a 30 second cycle on the scan tool tipped me off to trouble.
I applied a bandaid to the now-shorter heater hose, some heat tape (claims it's good for 2000F radiant heat). That was enough to get me the rest of the way to work, where I have more tools. I massaged the EGR tube a few mm just now with a BFH, that's enough to stop the direct contact I think. I also picked up a female-female 3/8" NPT 45deg elbow and male-male 3/8" NPT close nipple, to which I can install the existing straight barb fitting, so I can point the hose very clear of the EGR tube, but it will require pulling EGR tube to be able to turn the elbow fitting (which I didn't feel like doing on the side of the road). I also ordered an overnight part from Japan Amazon, a 3/8" male NPT to 5/8" hose barb fitting, so I can have a "proper" fix by Friday.
