Default Are COPs worth it?

Dear MT.net,

Thanks to you guys highly enthusiastic praises about a COP conversion, I am just about to pull the trigger on COPs. But, are COPs worth it or not?

Unfortunately, I just ran across this and it has both FM and DIYAutotune being pretty harsh on them, stating pretty clearly just to go with the LSx coils and that COPs at best are a very minor upgrade to our stock coils.

P.S. Link also has a "shout out" to MT.net!
P.P.S. I really, really want COPs - but if COPs are only a tiny bit better than stock coils, there are better things I can spend my money on. It's either COPs or stock coils with me - I own rotaries, I've experienced messing around with coil packs and flat out refuse to do it on the Miata.

Saying that the Toyota coils are "not necessarily an upgrade" is ridiculous IMO. There's plenty of empirical data showing that you can run more boost and more gap with Toyota coils than you can with factory coils. I was down to .022" gaps at 13psi and 200whp on stock coils - after switching to Toyota coils I would run .035 or .040" gaps, all the way up to 21+psi and 300+whp. Now I'm running the same coil setup and .035" gaps at 17psi and 350whp, and they still haven't hiccuped once (aside from accidentally blowing out a couple of the coils from running ~7ms of dwell after I switched from the MSPNP to my current AEM box).

The LSx coils are definitely better, and I'm sure DIYAutotune's pencil coils are better as well, but saying that the Toyota coils aren't an upgrade from stock is just not true.

Ask Hustler, he raved about his set when he first got them.

Do the LS2 coils, it comes out to be a little cheaper I have found. I will post more details about the swap later tonight.
