Corbeau Forza - will it serve my purpose
Quick, guys- help me with this one:
I found one locally without bracket for like $100. Seemed like a great deal, so I told the guy I want to pick it up this evening. From what I read here its a big seat for the miata but might fit me perfectly (I'm 5'10" 37" waist). My main objective is to sit lower in the car, atleast 1.5 to 2" lower, plus have a lot better side support. How tough is it to bolt the seat to the floor? Or should I get the $90 corbeau bracket for it? |
I looked a a set a while back...I'm still running stock seats if that tells you anything. They weren't all that comfortable i didn't think. $100 seems pretty average for these not all that great of a deal unless it's brand new and even then I dont think I'd call it a great deal.

how would you put it straight on the floor? make brackets that are u shapped?
I tried to mock something up on mspaint but its extremely terrible... sorta like flipping the brackets that are there already |
i dunno....i learnt that some people on here bolt their seat to the floor. i havent looked at the stock seat mounts at all.
KPLAFIN what wasnt comfortable about them? i hate the stock seats cause i sit way too high in the car, doesnt have that snug feeling. |

i have a custom bracket made for my sparco sprint. went to lowes and piced up 1/8" thick steel strip(i guess you would call it that?) cut the feet off the stock rail and welded em onto the steel. drilled a hole and attached the sliders, and then bolted the seat down.
I sit lower than stock and still can slide my seat, and unbolt it. |

Main way i've seen it done is to basically put a stud through each of the bolt holes in the bottom of the seat...drill holes in the floorboard and use nuts from underneath. They just felt like a really cheap set of seats, I guess they'd be fine for track use but I wouldn't want to use them in a daily.

I bought a Corbeau seat and it is an absolute POS. You can feel the metal frame work in the back area and it just cheaply made all around. I took it out after a few weeks and I am much happier with the stock seat foamectomied.

the seat may fit YOU fine, but it is a tad bit wide for the car (rubs against door). i have a set with the adjustable corbeau brackets. seat quality is questionable, but the bracket is pretty good......and not that expensive. if you pick up the seat, i suggest saving youself a fabrication headache and just buy the bracket.

I got the slider for my corbeau from Keinayo and they fit nicely. Car is still my daily, but comfort is ok, even with harness :)

I've had mine for a while, bought it new with slider for $200 locally through a friend.
If I buy another seat it will not be the Forza, it is too wide for the miata and it is very cheaply made, i remove the cushion to sit lower and ride around sitting on springs...very bouncy... The seat will serve it's purpose, and may be the best seat for the money, but I'd get something else next time around. |
I used a Forza in my old NX2000 for lapping days but swapped the stock seat back in for daily use. Just as others posted above they aren't that comfortable (you can feel the frame through the padding) and pretty cheaply made.

thanks everyone for the inputs, i decided to pick up the seat after all.
I found after a lot of trial and error that bolting it to the floor will give me my best driving position: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/4636/dsc00536tt3.jpg Compare this pic (mounted to floor): http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/1753/dsc00539jm2.jpg to this one (stock forza slider mounted): http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/7060/14165038rj8.jpg It does rub on the door, but I really liked the hip and shoulder support. I DD my car but nothing over 25 or 30 miles at once, so its not such a big deal. I just need to make some brackets now. I'm guessing, not an easy task since I don't have a welder. |
Do you have any other pictures or details on how you mounted the Forzas to the floor? I've been struggling with what seats to put into my Meotter while still maintaining proper helmet clearance under a rollbar... I can definitely fit with Kirkeys bolted to the floor, but I'd prefer to have something more comfortable...

what the hell happened to your passenger door panel.

Does anyone have pics of custom brakets they made to mount Forzas to the floor?
