cruise control actuator

Im in the process of turboing my car and the cruise control actuator is taking up space. The cruise control never worked anyways and I dont really want or care for it, and I am aware that there is a throttle cable that connects to it. Since its not the main one and I dont care to remove the whole cruise control system, can I just cut the actuator cable and call it a day?

IIRC its not that difficult to unhook from the throttle bracket inside.

Sam Amporful 10-19-2008 09:46 PM

I'll do that then, but I can just cut it with no problems attached then right?

lordrigamus 10-19-2008 09:51 PM

I might hook mine back up. Mabey I'll buy it from you!!!

I think I just need the cable, mine burned up in a fire.

Unless you want to just give it to me.LOL

Sam Amporful 10-19-2008 10:28 PM

well tell me how to unhook it properly first and i'll take $20 shipped, because the actuator is being a pain in the ass. You can probably go to advanced or some auto store and get it alot cheaper. If i still cant unhook it ima snip it. Can someone give me like a YES or NO on can I snip this thing?

I wish I could remember how it came apart. Mine hasn't been on the car for like two years. It was pretty easy to get off. I had it all removed in like 5 minutes if I remember right. No big deal I could take it or leave it.

i'll try tomorrow, its already too dark out

can I snip it anyone? I just tried to locate the bracket and there is just too many wires. Im not really looking for an alternate solution, I just want to know could I just snip it with there being nothing wrong with my gas pedal when I hit it.

bring it back.

I'm interested in this too.

You have to get into the footwell of the driver seat. You pinch the white plastic tabs holding it to the firewall from the inside. The ball on the end is just slotted into the throttle pedal. PITA to get to, ackward. Easy once you are there. I've fried two so far against the heat sheids around the turbo mani.

If you really had to, you could snip the Bowden cable. But all you really have to do is get under the dash and look at the throttle pedal. There are two cables connected to it. The rightmost one (closer to the passenger side) is for the throttle body. The other one (really close to the steering column shaft) is for the cruise control. The cruise cable is held onto the firewall by a plastic connector. Squeeze the sides of the connector really hard and it should come out.
