Not necessarily, mine had virtually no wear. If it is worn, you can machine down the case or put in oversize washers ($30) to make up the difference.

hang on hang on... you want to swap the 3.9 into a 4.3 housing? that's a lot more work than just setting backlash by swapping meatball into your existing pinion housing.

yeah i thought about that as i did more research....I'm going to see if my other buddy can't do that as well or might just stick with the miata ring-gear and call it a day.

did that thing i uploaded have the pinion specs? I do have marking compound.

yeah it shows how to set up both the pinon gear and ringgear.

pretty much I guess.

You would need 3.6 gear set to cruse at 80/3500. The 3.9's are at about 4000rpm at 80.
