dancing temp gauge

i've been developing a dancing temp gauge on my '92. generally happens when the car is accellerating. my Link isn't registering the fluctuations, so i think it's a loose wire. any ideas?

Yes- poor continuity somewhere in the lead/connection.

The temp sensor for the dash gauge and ECU are different. IIRC the temp gauge for the dash sensor is behind the engine and semi-difficult to reach. I'd check the ground for the dash sensor first which I believe is on the driver's side toward the rear of the engine as a loose ground here has given people hot readings and supposedly is pretty easy to dislodge during header/turbo installs. Other possibility is just a worn out sensor for the dash gauge.

See the attached pic. Circled sensor is to the dash. Green top sensor is to the ECU.

thanks, tom. that's probably it. i readjusted my timing about 2 weeks ago, about the time it started acting up.
