Someone asked for underhood shots. I forgot to peel off that red tape before riveting it down... I have some TB clearance issues up front so the vent is pretty far forward. It looks like a good spot for airflow with it being right behind the radiator. The hood is stiff enough that I'll probably not reinforce it, but it flexes a bit when raising and lowering. You can shave off some of the honeycomb area if you want another 1/4" of clearance. I might do that if the hose clamp on the TB coupler rubs.

Here is a pic of what i had, it help keep the air going into my turbo cold.



Its hard to see but its that piece of aluminum on the hood. Its on the dip of the hood so that it wouldn't stick out into the air stream so much.

I didn't put a whole ton of thought behind my choosing of the location for it, I just ballparked where the low pressure zone on the hood "should" be and stuck it there. Plus with it being FWD, it was also ventilating the hell out of the turbo that was cooking my hood.



Ignore the dryer duct, it was temporary. Car was my DD and had to drive it to work while I finished the actual 4" intake.

Im really liking his hood louvers. and bumper naca duct intake thing. ive been looking into ways to cut up the bumper but make it look good too.

I already have the mini scoop reversed just want to get some more air in/out on the driver (supercharger) side.

Also want to get more air flowing thru the intercooler which it seems like a hole in the bumper will be the best solution to doing so...

Just as a public service announcement: don't use fasteners like that on a hood. Nothing worse than watching a car burn while people try to find a dzus wrench... nevermind if something happens on track when your tool is in the pits.

They make ones that look like wing nuts that will create a tiny amount of aero drag but at least a corner worker can open the hood. Always need to plan for the worst case scenario.

Where are you guys getting these GT500 vents? I keep seeing references to a $32 or $54 price on other forums, but best price I can find is closer to $64. PN is AR3Z-16C630-AA if that helps anyone.

This thread and others like it on other Miata sites and the S2000 forums led me to doing some hood vents. I did one large one right behind the radiator and before the engine block and some triangular venting on the driver's side. They will be painted black so they don't look so ghetto. Disregard the black stripes, we did a vent on my buddy's AE86 hood and he painted them on while forgetting my hood is aluminum and will not rust. My whole car is being painted soon so that will be gone. So far we have both noticed a reduction in fumes in our cars and watched the heat pour out of there while we drive. My buddy reports reduced drag, but I think that's all in his head
