do I need to resurface the manifold flange?

The turbo flange is surfaced, but the ceramic coating shit is on the manifold flange now. I'd rather do it once, than pull it off and do it right the 2nd time.

I assumed that if it needed to be done, BEGi would have done it before returning it.

everyone on this forum disagrees with that, and although i don't know enough to hold an opinion on this, I got tired of replacing that gasket weekly on my last turbo car.

i am just useing a stock multi layer steel gasket on the head and a stock singal steel fel-pro SVO mustang gasket on the turbo with copper spay on both and have NEVER re-torqued anything and i have never had a problem. now the shinney "paper core" gaskets is a different story.

Hello hacker, tell hustler to have the flanges resurfaced.

If you really knew hustler, you'd know he's a very sad and confused little boy.

I say hit either install them as is or hit them both with a band-sander.

just because your mani is nice and straight, doesn't mean your turbo and head it. i tried to run without a turbo to mani gasket once, it was leaking like crazy. it has been a gasket and copper spray for me then on.

shouldn't begi know better not to coat the flange area? stephanie promise it wouldn't leak. LOL. she better be right.

still waiting on a flange and a fuel rail.

cjernigan 06-28-2008 08:22 PM

Sand the manifold flange with glass and sand paper, just remove the coating. BEGI machines all their manifolds so it should be flat with the ceramic removed.
