I've got the same problem except I dropped a BP into a '91. Did you ever get the timesert and would you be willing to pass it on to another person? I'm in southern California.

I have not got a kit yet.. A buy in and pass around sounds like a good idea to me though.

a friend of a friend has an oversized M14x1.5 tap that I am trying to borrow. If that doesn't work, I'd be willing to buy a kit and sell it to you at a discount.

I went and bought the time sert kit and I'm going to do it this weekend. I'm more than willing to pass it along to the next person minus 1 insert to save everyone some money.

Sweet. Line me up please. I would much rather use and pass on the savings to others!
Sell it to me less the cost of one "sert" and I will do the same for the next unlucky...

Buying a large bolt. 2.45
Buying a correct washer 0.99
Renting a tap 5.99
Getting ripped off 120 bucks for a fancy kit.. priceless.

I got it done today with no problems. I tried an oversized tap before opening the time sert box and it marginally improved the situation but not even close to fixing it. The previous owner of this oil pan did a thorough job stripping out the drain plug. The time sert insert feels very secure the kit makes it easy to have quality results.

My tap handle wasn't big enough for most of the time sert pieces but it was probably easier using a ratchet wrench anyways. The front sub frame prevents you from spinning anything with a handle straight into the drain plug hole so a 3 inch extension was perfect. no problems with the inserts or anything.

Vince - shoot me an email at b3d3g1@gmail.com if you're still interested in the time sert kit.
