drivetrain losses
 

maybe a silly question, but how much power is lost in the mx-5/miata drivetrain, and how could you minimise these losses?
motor/diffmounts or what else?

i think the loss is around 20-25hp

its simple to get it back really, minimize the rotating mass. Lighten the flywheel, crankshaft, get lighter (and smaller usually) wheels, and lighten up the internals a bit too.

I have heard assume 79% of flywheel power reaches the rear tires. I would think switching the tranny and diff. fluids to synthetics would probably take off 1-2% of that.
