drivetrain vibration

hey guys,

about a month ago i installed a torsen into my 96 diff. I used the same ring gear and all of that, set all of the tolerances according to the m.net article using a mic and dial indicator. The swap generally went smoothly besides not being able to separate the diff and the PPF (took it off the trani instead...what a pain)

it drives fine, the diff locks up very nicely and around town there is no real vibration or noise. The problem is on the highway... at 65 mph and above i get a SERIOUS vibration that goes thru the whole car. It only happens under any load, not when im costing, decelerating, or just have the clutch in. Some have said that you are supposed to mark the orientation of the driveshaft and diff b4 u remove it, i didn't. Could this be causing this bad of a vibration, or is the diff out of spec??

I don't do a lot of highway driving but its annoying driving an hour from college with my ass vibrating.

The 65 MPH Vibration

Maybe?

I have removed my drive shaft several times without and markings and i don't vibrate so i wouldn't say that's the problem.

Might want to double check all the tolerances inside the diff itself if you have a free weekend.

Good try anyways.

Sorry 240 to Miata Owner that I can't be more helpful but at least I know what you're going through. Ask Ben; he may be able to assist you.

May be unrelated, but there was a thread a while back about some kind of transmission problem ( a noise or vibration, I can't remember) and they all figured it was from removing the PPF and not realligning it per the specs in the manual. Might wanna look that up.
