dual 52mm single din gauge pod?

I don't usually make threads about little things like this ... but anyway Im looking for a single din gauge pod for 2 52mm gauges. I looked on ebay first but they just have 3 gauge pods and they all have that saw shape. I want just a flat mount, simple and clean that isnt falling out all the time and Im willing to pay a bit more for the sure thing. Right now my vac/boost and wideband gauges (analouge) are in the vents, but the heater is going to be reinstalled for the winter (and maybe AC next summer too) and I want all the vents. Turns out im just not that hardcore.

oh yeah, it would be nice if it could be drilled for some simple switches down the road as well. I might decide to do some table switching for water injection or something else with my megasquirt down the road.

IDK how much you are willing to spend, but I have the piece from DDMWorks. It's stainless steel, and you can get it in 4 different setup variations, and 2 metal finishes. At $80 it's not the cheap solution, but it is a very solid and nice piece.

Pick up an oil temp gauge or a real water temp gauge and do the 3-gauge pod.

Actually, get an a-pillar mount. I know it looks ricey as all fuck, but visibility > all. I actually went out and got 4 Autometer 52mm gauge pods and screwed them into the gauge hood, two on each side. It's a bit airplane-ish, but the visibility of the gauges cannot be touched.

It's not rice as long as you have the boost to back it up. :) I did a full a-pillar mount (replaces the whole pillar, not just some screw on pod) for boost and fuel pressure, and the DDMWorks gauge mount holds the Oil Pressure and EGT, while the WBo2 is in the left center vent. I'm thinking about ditching the DDMWorks 2-gauge mount for the 3-guage mount now because I have an Oil Temp gauge to install. (Some people don't like gauges, I'm a pilot, having gauges is in my blood.)

Looks like that's what you want. As a matter of fact, it looks like what I want too.

Then there's this solution if you want even more gauges or don't like the a-pillar:

that DDM piece is the tits ... $80 damn might still have to get it though.

edit .. Bah, i bought it since it is exactly what I wanted. That along with a little order from adreneline racing (pads) and another little order from FM (maintenance craps n stuff) and there goes $300 lol. Now I just need to figure out the size of the various interior bolts I am missing and get replacements.

I might have to ditch my 2x pillar mount and go with the ddm too. How nice is it to have the a pillar line of sight though?

I dont need perfect line of sight, those gauges are for a quick and inaccurate reference to me to make sure I am not overboosting and that I am at a generally acceptable AFR for how I am driving. Also lets me pinpoint AFR issues without the laptop plugged in.

so you like boost and afr on the pillar? Its been like 6 years since i've had a turbo car.

cjernigan 09-02-2007 06:58 PM

I hated my dual A-pillar. I'm 6'2 and my head is close to the softtop in the stock NB seat. It's not like it's right in front of your face but it is there is plain sight which really is the whole point, i just don't like it there. So i put my gauges in one of the ebay 3 gauge in plates for $18 or w/e it was.

nah, Ive never been a fan of pillar mounts. They just seem like a great way to get your car broken into so never used em ... no idea how I would like em. Up until now I have had my analouge LC1 and analouge boost gauges taking up the vents but my girlfriend will bitch to no end if I dont have good heating in the winter, so vents are going back in. I dont use these gauges to tune, thats what my laptop is for.
