Dyno day goal? To be able to drive it home:bigtu:

I'm just looking to see which thing is wrong. Made no changes to maps and the WBO2 is reading much richer than before. Have a feeling something is holding on to something.

Oh, and I should be able to hold 15psi now.

Mach929 05-10-2007 06:16 PM

(I won't have it together until tomorrow )

Well, I won't be going with you guys, but i am actually going to a dyno over here in south Louisiana on Saturday. :D

Car: 91 Miata
Engine: Longnose 1.6L
Turbo: Greddy turbo, greddy manifold, TurboTony downpipe
Boost: 12psi
Power at the wheels: 220whp and similar torque, hopefully.
dyno: Dyno Dynamics

I'll post "after" results when the time comes. :)

Car: 91 Miata
Engine: stock 1.6
Turbo: Greddy
Boost: 15psi
Power at the wheels: 265hp 240tq
dyno: Dynojet
hope: I figure out the timing issue before Saturday, hold 15psi, and the clutch holds or I kill my engine so I have an excuse to build the next one.

hustler 05-10-2007 09:19 PM

Car: 91 Miata
Engine: 1.8
Turbo: bell s3, big intercooler, gt28rs
Boost: <=10psi
Power at the wheels: 220whp (that will make me happy, any more is icing on the cake)
dyno: Dynojet 248

I still need a rear end before this happens. My mspnp goes out tomorrow. :eek5: I hope to have everything installed and tuned by june 23rd...the tdr track day.

Me first me first

Boost: 8 then 10 psi
Power at the wheels: 217 then 229 at the wheels
hope: realized

to do: more tuning. I have no knock and the 10psi / 229 rwhp run was too rich. I figure a few more hp at those boost levels are in the tuning for me.

and then more boost
and then water injection

Very happy with the behavior of the 10:1 compression 2001 motor.

Matt

Boost: 12.5 psi
Power at the wheels: 183
goal: Whiff

to do: more tuning!!! :vash: my spark is off and robbed power, and my tune was soo freaking bad cause my WB sensor was providing me with false readings (ie; i thought I had a flast 12.5:1 when I probably had a flat 8:1). Now it's dead and I can't tune untill I get a replacement.

Well....not exactly. At least I made almost 210hp running only to about 6.5k rpm on a broken car at only 11-12psi. (wait for the entertaining pics and story about the mess I made )

And...I at least made it home even though I probably killed every damn mosquito in Delaware with all the smoke I was blowing.

Can't check the car tomorrow as it's mother's day, but Monday, I'll do a compression test, but it's probably the rings. Car ran okay on the way home, but it kept blowing smoke like nobody's business. If it is the rings, I'll be parting the car out so start circling you vultures.

Got to hold 16psi, drove it home in one piece and found that my WBO2 is probably correct. Pulled out a little of the richness, but leaving it in at the high end. I've swapped enough motors lately:eek5:

lesson leanred: Too rich everywhere and need some more advance. Tune. Tune. Tune.

I think this is a result of tuning to some conservative AF targets, and the WB may need to be recalibrated. Pullled 2 more points of master fuel and still no knock. Will go through the dyno datalogs and get back to doing some more "street tuning". Very educational session for me. :bigtu:

Well, fairly succeeded. My dyno operator wasn't quite familiar with the Emanage/Autotune setup, but he picked it up quickly.

I got 185whp and 191 ft/lbs at around 10 psi. Unfortunately, my boost trails off big time after about 4500 rpm, and i end up with an early spike to 12 and then a drop to about 9 for the rest of the run. I drove two hours to this shop because i trust their reputation. My drive up used a half tank of gas. My drive back used only a quarter tank. :) I was running 11:1 AFR's pretty much everywhere before. My baseline run only netted me 134whp. lol. Everything seems better now. I just need some bigger injectors, and a helper spring for my greddy wastegate, and I'll be golden.

BTW, since I think I'm the only one here who ran a Dyno Dynamics run this weekend, DD dynos typically show values 13-15% lower than DynoJet dynos, so with that in mind, my adjusted totals are 213 whp and 219 tq.

That's close enough for me, and i have room for improvement. :)
