Ebay Clutches

Okay i made this post a while back, and i want to see any updates on people that bought these cheap ass ebay clutches!

Let me know the seller from ebay, the type, how its holding up, and how it would be for a dd miata!

Im really thinking about just going for it, haha. Im doing the install, and if im out 100 bucks it shouldn't be to bad..

Thanks in advanced for any replys :bigtu: .

I wouldn't want to risk a crappy clutch because there is so much labor involved. Let me go up to taos and get a ride in you car. ok?

I bought the EZ Clutch Stage 2 about four months 5000 miles ago. It's holding well so far. I have it at 9psi and no slipping. But it is still pretty young. The name doesn't really spell quality though.

haha, im a senior in highschool with a part time job making 7 bucks an hour, i cant quite afford top of the line here. Plus the next bit of my money is going towards paint/body because some dumb woman backed into my drivers side front fender. :vash:

On a side note her 1 grand did pay for my turbo, and it should cost around 200 bucks to fix.

On another side note does anyone have a drivers side front fender for sale, or know where i can get one cheap as possible?

lol, thanks

Edit: And of course ill give you a ride, once everythings installed. Mark my words if it snows tomarrow, im litterally going to fucking kill someone.

magnamx-5 01-27-2007 08:24 PM

hey FC why not beat it out you shoulda seen my front and rear fender aftr i ran over 5-6 big raccoons and went 350ing into a fence line they beat out just fine though some primer and spray paint and viola no more silver miata im back in black.

I saw a white NA wreck today outside the gym here in Santa Fe.

I'm going back to dallas on 2/7, so I probably won't get a ride. I'm going back and stripping the swap car, and getting MS soon though. I'll be back in march though to teach a week long class...maybe then.

This clutch really seems to good to be true. 286 ft-lbs of torque!? I plan on driving my car cross country this summer on the stock clutch at 6/7 psi, but my pilot bearing is already noisy and has been for some time. No slip so far, but the car hasn't been run on the MS yet either. Should be more torque after that. Should I buy this clutch and keep it in the shelf / trunk?

that F1 looks just like my xtd stage 3, I dont think its very good.. it hasnt slipped on me ever, is really grabby and really noisy/chattery. but it was cheep. and it is light, the disc felt lighter than my oe disc I pulled out.

the numbers seem a little inflated
heres the xtd...

the numbers are inflated and if you wanna pull 300whp rang then i would suggest buying a act or other name brand that clutch however is great for 230-250 or so whp, and light to enthusiastic driving the PP is the real bummer of it as the feel is so light but the engagement at low speed is abit different most call it chattery but ive been told all puck clutches feel this way i :dunno: but it is certianly tough and useable but not the most powerfull you can find just the most powerfull for the $. GL man

With a puck-type disc and a PP that can produce something like 1600-2500 lbs. of clamping force, I can see it happening.

What i hate about clutch vendors is there is no universal rating for clutches. some manufacterers state the BTQ rating, some just publish the clamping force of the PP, and others just esitmate a %. Then you call them to get some real answers and you are left with less knowledge than when you started.

my friend has one of these on his 300zx tt, and he pulled 477ft lbs of torque on one. thats way over what xtd claimed it would do. and its still holding, its been holding this torque level for probably the better part of a year. and his car is probably making even more torque now. i know this isnt a miata, but it is an xtd clutch in an application that would push its abilities, and so far its holding fine.

Funny thing is, im moving back to texas (san antonio) this march.

rotaryjunky 01-29-2007 03:16 PM

Is there a inexpensive clutch that holds 200whp and isn't chatty? I need near stock driveablity or my wife will kill me.

Can I assume that a weaker clutch will break before my rear end will? I would much rather replace the clutch every 20K than the rear end.

Atlanta93LE 01-29-2007 03:23 PM

MAX-5 from PBC
